someone told me that a double disc didn't last very long out running on the street. they assumed that i guess it went out after 50,000 miles or something... anyone know any truth to that?

I highly doubt it unless you were sled pulling or drag racing with lots Nitrous for every one of those 50,000 miles.

I guess it depends on what kind of driving you do. if you do lots of stop and go then they may wear out a little quicker do to slipping it so much. I know with CPmac's stuff the disk material is mostly steel. So I'm sure that if your slipping a clutch that wasn't meant to slip, it may wear out slightly faster. But once again I highly doubt 50,000 miles is anywhere fair to a close guess.

there is more than one dual disc kit that CPMac makes. The street version works well and the pads are made of, IIRC, organic material like most OEM clutch disks. I actually examined one last nite. A lot of aggressive use will wear these out. however, they are cheaper, quieter, and easier to drive than the dual disc puller kit.

the dual discs for a puller kit have pads made mostly out of steel (iron?). as a result they hold much stronger, squeal when engaged (but not always) and are more challanging to engage, especially from a full stop. However, unless you are launching for 4th gear stop with the WOT on numerous occassions, or sled pulling about a dozen times, it will not wear out. That is, of course, unless you have some other defect in your clutch system, like I did. That :( is a whole 'nother story which I will post on a new thread.

The dual disc puller is amazingly stout!
If you have any other questions, PM me. Craig stopped by yesterday and I got a pretty good education in a short time.

does the dual disc street clutch hold more than the single disc street? i though craig said his single was good to 450 rwhp?

I am sure it does. Otherwise why do a dual ?

The dual street will hold more than the single. At least that's what I'm told.
