I know i posted about this prolly 1.5 months ago. Recap- it was the first night we got some snow, salt on the rds. start up in morning, drive 25 miles shut off, load up some 55 gal barrels..start up SBS in the DIC w/ABS &Parkin brake lights on...Drove home, brakes seemed fine. shut offand try to start 2-3 times no change. Dealer checked out, said nothings wrong its a GM software problem, but theirs no fix..Censored ...
Anyways, when the rds are dry or rain wet it never seems to come on... Get snowy/salty rds 9 out 10xs it comes on...Its starting to get annoying and im wondering if anyone knows if any progress or updates have been made?? Also curious if anyone is having it happen as often as me...
In the bulletin the service writer gave me when i brought it in the first time, it was trying to tie it in w/ " Root cause may be customer cranking the disel engine prior the glow plugs being 100% resulting in a low voltage condition w/the battery"
I suppose that somethingl ike that is possible, but seems a bit far fetch. Plus my truck is seeming to start fine w/no glow plug issues. I dont have a fancy tech thing so i can check for codes and be sure, but w/ <10F its starting and running like any other diesel in that situation...
Well, if anyone could update me on anything id apprecaite it...Thanks-Adam

Condition

Some customers may comment that the ABS light, Service Brake System message comes on intermittently during initial start-up. The condition does not cause a DTC to be stored permanently.

<A href="http://service.gm.com/servlets/BlobShtml?ShtmlFile=1551943&psdid=297&evc=sm#ss2-1551943">Cause

The cause may be a timing issue related to the cranking/starting of the vehicles. It appears that the condition is more likely to occur on vehicles with diesel engines, though it can occur on vehicles with gasoline engines as well.

<A href="http://service.gm.com/servlets/BlobShtml?ShtmlFile=1551943&psdid=297&evc=sm#ss3-1551943">Correction

Reprogram the EBCM with TIS software version 7.5, released July 26,2004 or newer. Refer to Service Programming System (SPS) (SI Document ID #1451930).

To add... I have seen 1 other vehicle that did this, and this fixed it.

Thanks Max...Maybe ill try and make a trip to the dealer this week. Do they just plug in Tech2 to do the software thing??

They will have to read your vehicle info, then go to their computer with the Tech-2 and upload the new programming, then go back and blow it into yours. Take them a copy of the bulletin if they get stubborn.
