If by winter front you mean the grill cover that snaps on and has a zipper to adjust the opening, yes. I've been using mine for about a month now. I currently have the zipper all the way down, but at one point I had it zipped up (when temps were down around 5-10f).

Where do you buy these winter covers at?

I'm not really sure, mine came with the truck, but they aren't very complicated, so I'd bet they are readily available.

I have a piece of corrugated plastic, that I was going to secure behind the grille. Is there a problem with this? Should I cut any holes, like for the trans cooler?

I'm using the Plastic ColdFronts from LUND.

Crowne,

Thanks for the link, that is a great idea, I think I can cut mine from the plastic that I have. Do they go in the bumper holes as well?

Crowne,

Do they go in the bumper holes as well?
No. Bumper holes have to be open

i see the lund one is only 50 bucks or so for a gmc. does it make a noticable difference? when im down at school i only have a five mile drive to go to work in the mornings so it would be nice for that. when i go home on the weekend i would probably take them off. 2 and a half hour drive would probably get pretty hot under there.

I use them when the day high temp gets below -20C at that temp the bumper air intake takes in enough air.

steiner43511> I don't recommend taking the Lund plastic covers on and off to often in the cold, they're held on to your grill with ABS clips.Which I find the clips are too brittle and may break. Once the clip breaks you have to buy a whole new set of covers. Lund doesn't sell the ABS clips by themselves. I bought their Plastic ScreenFront which takes the same ABS clips in case one breaks.

well i tried a wheat seed bag and some zip ties. it covers all of the grill opening except about 3 inches on both sides. gonna see if i can tell a difference. outside temps have been in the negatives (F) here the last 48 hours or so.

I just put a winter front on my 6.5 last week. Big difference, warms up nice.I bought cloud riders for my d-max and 1 of my 6.5s. They are stainless so they look good and are easy to install and take off.I bought them from maxpower over on the d-max forum.

Steiner,

If your looking for a quick cheap method, field signs work well too (Garst ones work the best) I just have two of them cut and stuck between the grill guard and the grill. On the nicer days shove them together to only one width wide, on cold pull them out to cover the entire grill front. Don't have them attached in any way, just cut to they fit snugly and shoved them down.

Regards,

Lucas
