(Announcer) "Ladies and Gentlemen, water pump #2 has left the building!"

(Read like Elvis)Thank you, thank you very much!

Walked outside today in Sunny Southern California, only to find a large puddle of coolant under the front of my truck.

I had the dealer replace the first pump at 20,000 miles because of a leak on the driveway and now pump # 2 has exited life at 48,000 miles.

Things that make you go Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

What part of the last pump leaked? Gasket, hose or seal?

Looks like the seal again, I'll know more tomorrow when the dealer gets it apart. I guess we will test out the extended warranty I bought.

That seems odd that it went twice... If its the seal, I would make sure they carefully inspect the sealing areas.. something may be askew.

I had one go at 6,000 miles, took the dealer 2 1/2 weeks to get another one, and the new one started squeeking right away. Mayby only 3,000 on this one ay?

Ok guys here is the update. Dealer says water pump is definitely bad. Unfortunately, they claim they are on "National Backorder" They offer to reassemble and let me drive it while the part is on order. So I guess I just add coolant every day and let it piss out all over the bottom of my truck.Censored

You guys know me by now, I'm unwilling to accept that they can't find the part or that my truck will be laid up for an extended period of time. So.......a quick call to our resident "DMAXALLITECH" who verifies that they have 10 of them in stock in his area (Grand Rapids, Michigan), he provides me with a phone number which I forward to my local dealership (Southern California) and the next thing you know a pump is being air freighted out.

Thanks Eric! You Rock! :ro)

Certainly pays to know more than the dealers do.

And to know someone with the "know"

The unsubstantiated info I got locally was that they were using the LB7 pumps on the LLYs to correct a "warranty" overheating problem. Hence the shortage.

Wouldn't that be nice if it were true. Later! Frank

I have found that with just a few modifications, you can change it from pumping water to making boost... it has to be turned around and a few other things, but it works.. So I am buying them all up and turning them into the second half of my twins set up....

Water pump made it here overnight. Thanks again to Eric!

I sourced out the pump for my local dealer......but apparently there are gaskets and an O-ring that are needed for the install that I should have sourced for them as well. Because they don't have them and won't until tomorrow.

Looks like I drive the "rent a wreck" for another day. :(
I think we have acheived a new level of dealer apathy here in the Los Angeles area. :D

Update:

1) I picked up the truck tonight: Good :D

2) They somehow managed to scratch the door on the back of my Snug Top in two places approx. 36" apart: Bad .........Censored

3) Apparently this must have somehow happened while they were replacing the tail gate straps.
