Can a trickle charger be hooked to one of the batteries or does each battery need to be charged individually?

You can hook a trickle charger to one of the batteries. A good marine charger will do both at the same time if thats what you were asking.

Why not hook the charger to the jumpstart terminals?

My batteries are always good. A Solar Cell takes care of it for me

Would the Jump Start Terminals be good enough? Wouldn't loose too much JUICE? (sorry, just the way it came out) ):h

Would take alot longer to charge?

Boy, I need my eyes checked. I thougt you asked "How to change batteries".
I would think a low volt trickle charger would do just fine connected to the jump start spot. I never liked the way GM has there batteries connected. It is very hard to get to the posts and connect a cables and the posts always seems to be close to some sort of metal ground in the older models.

Went out and checked name/model of my charger, its a Schumacher Model SC-6000A Speed Charger, Computer Smart. Its good for gel cells,Deep Cycle, lead Acid, AGM batteries, Jump Staarting and Altenator/Batttery testing, it just won't charge two batteries at a time. Have a querry out to Schumacher so I might find out. They didn't answer my first request for info about a year ago.
Before someone asks, the jump start feature won't help on diesels and just makes it on cars. Works good on my lawn mower though.Had a back-up charger that worked but I dropped it and it quit. Also have a deep cycle charger for my trailer batteriy but don't know how good it would be for the truck. Its not automatic, but has a built in timer.

I have been winter charging my batteries for years using a 1.5 amp auto trickle charger made for motorcycles. I hook it up to one of the batts and it will take care of both. I check it with a digital VOM from time to time and all is well. I also remove my trailer batts for the winter and do a parallel hookup and charge them the same way. My RV batts usually last three to four years. The key is taking care of them. I got the chargers at Wally World for very little money.
Works for me.
