Bio diesel fuel. Has anyone used it? Has anyone made it themselves? Supposed to be cheaper and very clean.

You might want to check the Alternative Fuels Forum (http://dieselplace.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=14):):)

Not allot of info, there.

They are talking about building a BIO Fuel plant, here in Hamilton. I have gotten more interested since that announcement. Not allot of real info, it seems.

I have tried the comericaly produced BD5 bio diesel (5%) and it costs a little bit more perhaps (.10 to .20 cents) but it did not increase the power or milege. It might of decreased the milege by .5 miles per gallon. Only ran two tanks due to cost.

The BD as stated on many sites will clean out the junk in the fuel system so be ready to change filters.

Making the fuel is fairly easy but with the commerical mixes only going as high as BD 10% why waste the time. Too much money spent in the truck to "f" it up with a 100% mix.

Google bio diesel for some very interisitng reading.

Thanx, Pilot. I had no interest because no one around here sells it. But it sounds like there may be a plant going in the Hamilton area. So I am kinda interested now.

biodiesel.org. Theyve got good lists about tons of places to get it.

In Jan 05, there will be a 20c/G tax reduction on B20 or greater. (W finally did something right....)

Ill pay more to give some $$ to the farmers instead of the Saudis.......

Been using bio in my Mercedes wagon for awhile. Overall been very good, less visible smoke, but getting tired of paying 30-40 cents more per gallon over standard diesel. Got to watch the solvent feature though, tends to really clog up the primary especially in older vehicles.
