Now I finally have my truck back. They have now replaced all 8 injectors and I have been given 2 different causes of the problem.

Cause one
I was told that an injector had a crack in it and fuel was leaking into the valve cover. When I asked which injector it was they said they don't get that information?

Cause two
This is what was read in the report
Command fuel pressure to max (160) mpa - ok. Checked balancing rates -- all are in spec. Checked fuel injector resturn rates. Left bank - 9 ml and right bank - 8ml. Sent to lube bay for oil change and will reassess. LOF 9.5L of GM 15w40** Called TAC re fuel in oil need to get engine hot and do flow return rates. If ok hot them do the same test cold, then call TAC back with findings **OK to perform above trest up to 1.0HRET. RAN engine until hot. Commanded fuel pressure to MAX, will onlhy reach 140.1 mpa. Rechecked fuel injector return rates. Left side -21ML and right side -14ML ** Called TAC back to replace 8-injectors TAC to advise replace all eight injectors. Reinstall fuel return line with new seals. Reinstall both upper and lower valve covers. Had to replace 1 injector sleave (came out in diassembley) top up coolant. change oil and filter (amsoil) road tested and rechecked all balancing rates are in spec. Fuel pressure can be commanded to max (160MPA). rechecked oil and coolant levels ok.

The first cause was verbal and the second is what I received in writing. GM did not do an oil anaylsis, but I did one for my own records. I will be receiving the results on monday, but they did tell me the fuel dilution was 10%.

I am very concerned about the 10% fuel dilution and what damage has been done to my engine. Can you tell me what the engine oil requirements for the duramax are. What I am looking are the maximum limits such as what is the maximum fuel dilution that the engine can handle etc..?

Any suggestions you can offer are much appreciated.

I think the problem is how long you were at 10% because 10% is very high. Should not be above .5% and I even think that’s high. If you were at 10% for a very short time, I would not worry about it at all. Now if you ran 10,000 miles like that then I would have some worries

HAD A CUMMINS ONCE THAT FLOODED THE CRANKE CASE ON ME. WAITED INA Censored HOLE TOWN FOR 12 DAYS WAITING TO GET IT FIXED,DROVE IT HOME, NEXT DAY TOOK IT TO LOT AND TRADED HER IN ON MY D-MAX:) DID NOT WANT TO FIND OUT IF ANYTHING WAS TO BECOME OF IT.:confused: I HAVE SEEN MAIN BEARINGS OUT OF MY PUMP MOTOR (SERIES 2000 DETROIT DIESEL) THAT HAD IT CRANK CASE FLOODED....NOT NICE....THANK GOD I DID NOT FOOT THE BILL FOR THAT ONE:D .... NOT SAYIN YOURS IS TRASHED, BUT WHY WAIT TO FIND OUT:eek: .....JMO

Mine flooded the crankcase and now my oil pressure is about 10-15 PSI lower than it was when the truck went in. It does not matter if it is damaged or not because GM will not do anything about it anyway. I raised cain to no avail and even asked my phone rep if it would be alright for me to come to her house and replace her oil with Diesel fuel. I had more than 10% and do have a sample and all the records of my complaint so if it goes south maybe I will have a claim. I tried to trade my truck in and I would only need another $28,000 and my truck (which is nice and paid for) to get in another....no thanks

Worked on a guys truck. At 150k he had the dealer install the 3rd set of injectors all 3 sets washed the crank case. all on record. afthe rthe 3rd install dealer took it on a drive motor locked. dealer told him to poumd sand. He came into our shop last spring they put a salvaged motor in it. I started last month and he came in smoking. now had 386k miles on the truck. the motor. has 240k miles? found rt bank had 2 bad and he opted to replace the 4. the 2 that where bad had 02 stampings on them.
