: Bullseye On Dually's?
JJs DuMax 12-18-2004, 10:25 PM Wazzup with people slamming car doors into and scraping my fenders, nailing my bumper, and scratching my tail gate on my dually? Censored I know my big bubble butt sticks out a little more than regular trucks but damn! I had to have my tailgate painted, the bumper needs to be replaced($700), and the dings and scratches I'm accumulating from a-holes is unreal. It's like having a bullseye on my truck.
Am I the only one experiencing this with their dually? Or is this the nature of the beast! JJ
painter 12-18-2004, 10:41 PM not a ding yet):h i do back into the space 95% of the time, one time i had to walk over a guys civic to get back into my door. i had pulled in nose first and couple of boneheads left me about 3" on either side by the fenders. the roof of the guys car made some really loud buckling sounds as i walked across the top:D
Road Boss 12-18-2004, 11:39 PM Yeah, I back in most of the time to save the headache of people giving me enough room to get out and so they don't hit my truck.
EEEEZY 12-19-2004, 12:40 AM I also back in but, more importantly, I park way on the outside perimeter of the parking lots far away from anyone who might ding, dent or scratch anything.
SpoolinTurbo 12-19-2004, 01:45 AM I ain't a dooley but I park in the back 40 all the time, usually backed in. Just don't want anyone near my ride.. I figure if you're around my ride when it's out in bfe... you are looking for trouble, and I can be your huckleberry.
JJs DuMax 12-19-2004, 07:15 AM Painter states "the roof of the guys car made some really loud buckling sounds as i walked across the top"!
):h ):h ):h ):h Now that is funny!
I do try and park in wide spaces to avoid other cars. Mama JJ and I will try back in whenever possible. Couple of weeks back I parked the truck at the airport parking garage (covered of course) and intentionally drove to the farthest end of the lot, picked a space on the very end, parked to the far left of the spot just in case someone pulled in beside me on the right. Dang if someone didn't put a 10" scrape on the right dually fender. WTF? Censored
I'm contemplating going to church, sitting in the front pew(?), and popping $50 in the plate just in case Satan has anything to do with this. ):h Everytime I wash it I find a new ding or dent. I'm happy for you guys that are having such good luck with your duallies. At the rate I'm going I'll start looking for a good body shop to have on retainer. Happy Holidays! JJ :)
Max Owner 12-19-2004, 11:35 AM Like all the above say......Park where no one else wants to park.
Turfmower 12-19-2004, 12:30 PM Do what I do with my mason dump park in 2 spots.
Once I was walking up to my truck to find sone Big fat Mother Fer grinding his door in to my truck. He was trying to get his big porky pig body out of his car. I put my foot though a guys door and pushed him back in to his car as I said some choise words to him
Diesel Dually 12-19-2004, 01:09 PM I do the same...I park in no mans land, and I take 2 spaces. Tough.
If I get blocked in, I light a cigar and wait...
Has not happened...yet.
renagade 12-19-2004, 04:27 PM I stood and watched some old geeser throw his 1978 Caddi door open and hit my truck. I was never so pissed in my life. I could not run fast enough to stop it. I had to grab him by his back shirt and show him the dent he was buying. Moral of the story... You cannot control other A*s-Clowns actions. You are either lucky or unlucky.
Tuckaleechee DMax 12-19-2004, 04:47 PM The first week that I had my dually, it got a grocery cart in the drivers door ($500). A lot of the shoppers (in luxury cars) let the carts go when they are emptied. They end up in the lower 40 where no one likes to park. It's just luck.
haulin' ace 12-19-2004, 05:03 PM I carry a cone in the back of my truck. I try to find a corner spot and then I block the one next to me. Its amazing how many people pass up a spot because of a cone. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/hihi.gif Never had anyone move it or knock it over. http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/rockon.gif
Max Owner 12-19-2004, 06:06 PM Until some kid runs off with it..... :D
My wife shakes her head when she says" theres a spot" I say no, because all the loose carts will run down hill, this way.
No comprehension....
DuckhunterInTN 12-19-2004, 07:51 PM Until some kid runs off with it..... :D
I've had that happen before.....
Mackin 12-19-2004, 07:56 PM I do the same...I park in no mans land, and I take 2 spaces. Tough.

Ditto sep the Cigar I never get trapped or set myself up to be
I got a door ding in my drivers side quarter on my third day! Most people are *****s.
Dmax Tim 12-20-2004, 05:43 AM The H2 w/tube steps works great for parking lots.
Because of the height and the tubes set out from the body they catch the door paint and the shopping carts.
Lot a different colors left on them.
mpl897 12-20-2004, 05:56 AM Like all the above say......Park where no one else wants to park.
Works for you in CANADA and me in MASSACHUSETTS:ro) I go to end of Walmart or make ,my girlfriend take HER CAR, CAUSE SHE DON'T KNOW WHAT A DOOR DING IS.........
SpoolinTurbo 12-20-2004, 06:10 AM My wife understands completely about the back 40. She doesn't mind... walking isn't a bad thing, and it just means when we do get out to the truck, it'll be warmed up via remote start ;)
Heartbeat Hauler 12-20-2004, 10:23 AM I just tell Scotty to leave the shields up until I get back and so far no dings...):h
Actually I just back in...I really don't have shields, but if someone dings me they'll get a full bank of "Phaser Fire"!!!!:D

Cant believe how bad some people are about things, if they cant even open the door without dinging someone elses car, how the hell can they drive?! I dont have a dually, but an LB, so I tend to park diagonally in 2 spots if the parkinglot is narrow (otherwise, I'll be doing an 85 point turn). Got a note on my car once, with a nice smily face, written in pink "Learn how to park @sshole", because I took 2 spots. It mad me laugh so much because If I would have parked correctly, the persons next to me would have had a hell of a time getting out. One good defense is to have your car filthy, with mud.. not a single person will want to park next to it. Besides, have you seen some of the park jobs that these bozo's do? Regular sized sedan, cutting into someone elses parking spot because they are too lazy to straighten it out.
Max Owner 12-20-2004, 11:48 AM If its bad weather/cold, I'll drop the wife off at the door and go park out THERE somewhere. Then go get the truck and pick her up at the front door. She doesn't shake her head, roll her eyes, make a smart a$$ comment, because it works in her favour.
Go figure, huh?
Hustler 12-20-2004, 01:12 PM If you don't want the dents, scratches, etc then you need to park where no one will park. I found the hard way if you do catch someone slamming their door into your truck, nothing can be done about it. I had this samething happen to me awhile back. I called the police and they said it happen on private property and they can't make a police report. I called my insurance agent and he said unless the guy was willing to pay for it, the insurance company can't go after him. When the guy laughed and said he wasn't paying for anything, I said ok. I left and then came back when the police left and he was in the store. I waited until he came out and then walked around his car with key in hand. Oh yeah, I also made sure my tire tool was sticking out my window as I drove away scraping the side and I think I busted out a window, but didn't stay to see.
PEVOMAN 12-20-2004, 02:49 PM Heres one for ya. How bout takeing you truck to the dealer to get some work done on it only to find 2 big dings in the passanger door after your get home with it One the size of a quarter the other the size of a dime

JJs DuMax 12-28-2004, 05:19 AM Seems like everytime I wash the truck I find a new blemish. Dag nabbit! JJ
