When I start up my truck and pull out of the driveway it leaves a trail of water. This has been happening latley. At first I thought it might of been a fluid but it is just water. It seems to be coming out of a little rubber boot on the firewall. I understand that this is where condensation comes out from the A/C but I have not been running the A/C. Has anyone out there had the same problem. Please help, thanks in advance.

You're sure about not running air?
I have seen people have the A/C botton on, with the heat turned up. Water would be a mystery to me, on a diesel.

Is your defrost on? IIRC the A/C compressor is on when the windshield defrost is on.

i second Dura Mike....windshield defrost will call for a/c to help with not fogging.

If you keep the cabin temp on AUTO it will use the AC compresser....just look for the snow flake. This is if you have this option on your truck.

Manufacturers use the "windshield defrost" circuit to cycle the A/C compressor on to assure that oil/lubrication continues to "flow" throughout the A/C sytem when it might otherwise not be in use for extented periods (think-cold weather climates)
Manufacturers have discovered that having oil/lubrication not circulate for long periods, & then cycling the system (possibly dry), is not conducive to system longevity.
Just some info as to why the A/C comes on (when you really don't think you need it)
Have a happy-everyone.
