for all of you who are happy, i am envious of your duramaxes.

when i bought my truck, it was doing 18 - 19 MPG. then it dropped to 12. dealers said they would not look at until it hit 9. the best i can get now is 14.5. i towed a 3k pound trailer and there were hills that the truck could not maintain speed limit (at 10.5 MPG). (yes, 3,000 pounds). the other problems that i have are 1. crank, no start (security light flashes) 2. starter actuator does not engage the flywheel and grinds. 3. intermittently, the security light comes on. 4. turn the left turn signal on and both flash. 5. sometimes the mirrors dim, sometimes they don't. (all problems are very intermittent)

i took the truck in at 34k miles as problems 1 & 2 happened twice within 48 hours. as i was getting ready to leave on a trip, i was worried about the warranty running out. i called GM service; they assured me they would fix the problem - even after the 36k mile mark. i came back from vacation and the dealer took the truck in. and, they gave it back saying 'we couldn't duplicate the problem'. i took the truck to another dealer and paid to have the engine/fuel system diagnosed. they said that all of the fuel/injector pressures are ideal (not just w/in tolerance). the truck has been in the shop 6 times in the last year. now, gm says that they will not extend the warranty as i am past 36k miles (i am at 41k) and gm is not wanting to cover any more work.

does anybody have any suggestions on the problems? (already changed filters)

does anybody have any suggestions on how to deal with GM?

THANKS.

kjSound like they have you over a barrel, and probably because you are willing to let them screw you. I'd suggest you stop whining, and get postal. Or whip out the checkbook.

Letting your warranty run dry with existing issues?? There are no consumer advocates here, or d-max owners that are going to speak for you. (But if you need your christmas lights put up, I can refer you to a few people).

Just leave it at the dealer, give them the phone number to your attorney, and ask that he call you when it is fixed and ready.

The motor has a 100k warranty with a 100 dollar deductible. Take it to the dealer with the warranty slips from the previous visits with the problem described while under warranty. Then demand them to make it right. We are only talking about 100 dollars though. I think if that want your bizz they will waive it. Always demand satisfaction and never take no for an answer.

master p2

you are correct. i was too nice and took them at their word that they would fix the problem.

as for the truck issues, i am just surprised that i have not seen anything similar in the forums.

Please post your vehicle in your sig, you will get some advice.

I'm not familiar with those specific issues.

Fire an email off to your customers relation people and tell them very strongly you are extremely disappointed in your trucks performance and the dealer's reluctance to fix it under warranty. I did that on the steering shaft Klunk'Klunk problem and within 2 days I got replies from both the Gmc and Chev reps. Tnis was about a month ago and just this past Tuesday I got a call from my dealer sayinh they had a new steering shaft assembly come in with my name on it and this coming Tuesday I take the truck in for a fix. There were several calls from the GMC rep. keeping me posted on what she was doing , mainly calling my dealer. I was fully prepared to take the problem to a local TV station that has a "Trouble Shoter's Team" that would be more than happy to look into the problem and go public with there findings, good or bad. GM doesn't want any bad publicity and will do about anything to avoid it. They paticulary don't want to give TOYOTA any reason for bad mouthing GM products (Myopinion). We have a new TOYOTA truck plant being built here in San Antonio and I'm sure the big three are concerned about that. This is truck country and competiton is strong.

Bump Bills ideas. Persistence has paid off for many people here. Realizing that most people just go away when they are told no.

Be sure to use the dealer chain, speak to the service foreman, then a GM rep, and document, take pictures where they can see you. I'm not suggesting being offensive, just anything you can do to relate the message that you are not going away.

When you talk to those people, ask for the names of the next up in the chain.

Kjones..i feel your pain..i'm also in the same shoes with my truck...mine has been in the shop 8 times now..and with two diffrent dealers. They tried to brush me off until i told the gm customer care lady that if they don't send a engineer to listen and fix the problem i will have my lawyer make last and final call...it took two days to fly the gm engineer...sometimes been to nice works against us..good luck with your problem as for mine i'm waiting for a flywheel that it's suppost to be the broken part.

There are three Brake lights on my 2003 DMax. the center and right lights both went out.

Bulbs OK. Wiring OK. Fuses OK Why don't they work. Dealer said he found nothing wrong. DUH - - What about loss of Brake lights isn't that something wrong? Any one else having this light problem? Do you have a fix for it?

Strange way to make your debut, ranroid. Did you even try a search? If so, and no luck, try posting your problem, but not in an unrelated thread
