: What wheels have 5" backspacing?
motovet 12-18-2004, 04:06 PM Most of the wheels I have found that I like are 4-1/4 - 4-1/2 " backspase. My 265's are tucked in just barely with my current 4-1/2" backspace wheels, but I plan on 285's and would like to keep the tires within the flairs. Do you guys with 4-3/4 backspace with 285's feel it is enough?
tophog 12-18-2004, 10:46 PM My wheels are 5.25" BS ... Ultras from Les Schwab. The further in the better IMO. Tires are 295's ...
motovet 12-19-2004, 12:24 AM Are those the type 44 magnum by chance? I found those and they look nice, but not really my taste. Looks like 5" plus backspace is hard to come by. This would have all been easier had I decided on the lift. Just looked at your pics again Jeff....those aren't the 44's. Do you know what model those are? Can't find them on the web.
weld renegades here, 5.25 inches of bs

On edit ...they may be the 45/46's ...forget the difference between the 44/45/46 ...
Yes, they are Ultra Magnum Type 44's ... just looked up again in Les Schwabs online wheels brochure.

Note, I had 2 sets of 17" Weld Evo Renegades ...both bought new from Schwab when I had the lift done. After 6 months the chrome began peeling. The set was replaced with another set and same thing happened ...so I gave up and got a refund. What's nice about the Ultras are they are excellent quality wheels, the right BS, chrome and reasonably priced.
I wouldn't waste the time trying to find/research wheels with the desired BS ...just call a shop that carries a ton of wheels and they can find what wheels meet specific criteria in a few minutes. I basically told them what I wanted and Schwab did a search and showed me the wheels that met my criteria.
motovet 12-19-2004, 11:45 PM Thanks Jeff. I know you're probably right about going to a shop to do my search. Problem is we have been working straight through since Thanksgiving till today, and Iv'e been a bit anxious I guess. Tire and wheel shopping soon.
leftmy8.1 12-20-2004, 11:15 AM All of the weld EVO series have 5.15" BS. The EVO XT's have 4.5".
just checked again and they are 5.125".....no problems with the chrome, after almost 2 years they still have a very nice finish.
Akila 12-22-2004, 01:00 PM What is the width of the rims you guys are running? I am looking at some Driv Blitz 17x10, the offset says -24, what does that translate to? I was thinking of a 285 with leveling kit.
Thanks in advance
motovet 12-22-2004, 03:12 PM I'm looking at getting 16x8".....most are running these. Sure be nice to be where you are right now....Kuaii was a bit wet for us this year during our stay in June. Looking forward to next year...maybe Maui?:D
Akila 12-23-2004, 03:36 PM Aloha Motovet,
You'll be disappointed with Maui unless you like the action packed life, next to Oahu, it's just like a big city. As for us over here, we don't mind the rain in the middle of the summer, kinda refreshing. It's been raining most of the night, it just stopped this morning. So I washed & waxed the New LLy, but don't want to take it out to run errands, cuz my road is kinda wet & muddy. Guess I'll take the 6.5, even though it's clean too.
Another day in this worlds paradise........
motovet 12-23-2004, 06:55 PM Haven't been to Maui in over 15 years...back then that was half the fun,(night life that is). Last few years my family and I have split our time between Oahu and Kauaii. Where are you at over there? BBQ any oysters down there? If so they come from my plant here in the very soggy Northwest.
Akila 12-24-2004, 04:04 PM Hello Moto,
I am right here in town, Lihue. We do on occasion BBQ some oysters as well as the NZ green lips. I make this sauce, to top em, from a Sushi bar I used to work at in San Diego. I call it the Gout sauce, cuz if you don't have gout now this sauce will give it to you! As for me, I already have the Gout so I don't eat the shellfish.
Just got finished installing the Turbo Back Banks SS exhaust. Don't hear much of a difference over stock, but I haven't driven it yet. Got the Juice, just don't know when & if I am going to run it. Cancelled the Drive Blitz 17x10"s, don't want to lift the truck as of yet. I do like those Weld Evo's, Cherokee & Velociti.
Just started raining over here again. Looks like the LLY sits another day. Just sold the 6.5 yesterday, but no delivery till monday, so I can drive that.
Jus kickin it.......
motovet 12-25-2004, 11:54 PM I am going to look at the Ultra Magnum, if I don't like those I will likely end up with a set of Welds or possibly even a set of chromed H2's. I have the Banks and you will notice a bit more noise over stock at higher rpm's, but not much. What is holding you back from running the Juice?
Looking forward to making it back to the islands soon. Mele Kalikimaka!!
Akila 12-27-2004, 02:56 PM Kind hesitant about the Juice, cuz of the problems that I have read. As I drive the Truck right now, I have plenty of power! I just got a message about the Driv Blitz, he said I can get them in 18x8.5 in January. Is anyone running 18"s on their 4x4's? How are the tire prices for 18's?
