Sorry, but can someone explain to me the reason why GM and the other Diesel truck manufactures do not go ahead and build these performance enhancements e.g. edge etc. into the trucks at the factory? From what I have been told, their is generally no trade off on reliability and fuel consumption etc.--Thanks Ken

There is always a trade off in wear & tear & mileage if you use the extra power on a regular basis. It is just know one knows how much the trade off is. Mike L is our resident Allison trans expert. He can tell you pretty close what the extra HP is doing racing and what the added torque is doing while towing. Later! Frank

The biggest trade-off is in emissions, factories could never get away with a black-smoke belching pig.
