anybody familiar with the "Ultimate Filter" from Perfect Filtration Systems. Found it mentioned in the diesel fuel quality article posted other places on the forum. Wondering if they make one we can get into the DMAX - and if anyone is familiar with it. Or - is it not worth it. Had a mechanic recommend to me that I put a Pre-OEM on that only goes to 30 microns... and let the OEM do the finer stuff - but i'm not sure how fine the OEM on my 05 lly filters - nor how good it really does removing water. -:t
Should I quit researching and just put in a Nicktane? This one caught my eye because of it's filtration ratings...

The Nicktane is proven - it works! I made up my own system long before his became available, but if I had it to do over, I would use either Nick's or Greg's Racor kit.

I vote for the Nicktane.
Easy install, and is proven to work.

OK - one more question - regarding warranty.
This is where i might reveal myself to be the huge puss that I am.... since I don't have the skill set to do much medium or heavy maintenance on the truck myself ---- I purchased the 100K mile extended warranty. Any of you folks closer to GM (gmallitech?) know if putting on the Nicktane will have any negative impact on the warranty? Almost seems like a crime that it might....

I went to the GM dealer and talked with the service manager, I explained the problem GM was having with injectors and he said he had heard about it. So I then explained that an additional fuel filter will greatly reduce the possiblity of this problem ocurring and asked what his thoughts were on adding this product and warranty. He said he saw no problem and it should not interfere with the warranty. So I installed the Racor kit and then took it back to show him. He thought it was a good install job (thank you Hoesli Diesel in Evansville :ro)) and gave his blessing. My point is I guess it depends on the dealership, but take the time to explain what you want to do and how it will make his life easier. Do not expect that they will know what you are talking about so make the effort to be clear.

There was some initial question as to how GM would react to customer-installed secondary filters. so far i haven't heard of anyone having any warranty issues with one present. always better to talk to your dealer first. now that many dealers are aware of injector problems i think there is even less chance you'll have a warranty problem.
