Any truth to the stories floating around the net and install shops that the Hds with snow plows are cracking frames up front? It's a great feeling owning 3500 truck that nobody wants to put an 8 foot plow on because they tell you it can't handle it.

Yes, but it doesnt seem to common. I saw a post about it sometime ago with pics of where to find the cracks. Mine hasnt cracked yet and i plow with an 8' Fischer, going on 3rd winter with it and i plow driveways for my business. If you do a search you may find the post about it.

We own 3 2500HD's all with plows, one 06 lbz with an 8.5 footer. One 02 6.0 gas job with an 8.5 footer and one 01 lb7 with an 8 footer with no problems at all and trust me they get used hard. I wouldnt worry about it at all, I know tons of people that plow with 2500HD's and have never heard of any problems at all.

I remember a few posts on GM-Trucks.com in the HD forum. It had happened to a couple of guys and their are pics. It was cracked behind the upper control arm going down.

we used to do boss plows at my old shop, in the winter season we would do 100-150 plows and i've never seen a craked frame from one. i had a guy crack his plow frame once but didn't hurt the truck.

That's the area I was shown. Supposedly it's enough of a problem that there is a weld on support kit.

It seems like I remebered that being part of the discussion but it seems like I remember a lot of things I can't find later so I didn't mention it. I did look in my Mitchell on Demand at TSB's and couldn't find the kit but they don't always have all the TSB's.
