: New In-Dash CUBBYCAM Gauge Mount Available
teksavy 12-03-2007, 10:26 PM Hi All:
Ed from CUBBYCAM here. Although I'm a new face to the Diesel Place, I'm not new on the aftermarket online scene. I have been spending most of my time at the Chevy Avalanche Fan Club selling my CUBBYCAM backup camera systems. After many years of offering "just backup cams", I was persuaded by a Diesel Place member to create a bezel like the angled one on my CUBBYCAM LCD for use with a boost gauge mount.
Well, after many months, it is finally here! And the Diesel Place is the first place to know about it! (I could call it a World Premiere, but I think that is pushing it.) :D
NOW AVAILABLE!! In-dash gauge pod mount for your Duramax!
http://www.bitcircus.com/gallery/d/9536-1/EGTBoost.jpg http://www.bitcircus.com/gallery/d/9500-4/IMG_1332.JPG
Installation is a snap and takes less than 5 mins (not including wiring of course). No drilling! Just pop the dash bezel off, pop out the factory cubby pocket (or switchpod mount) that is there already and install the CUBBYCAM Gauge Pod Mount. That is it.
The mount has a built-in angle to tilt your 2 1/16" diameter gauge towards the driver and includes preinstalled factory spring clips and an adjustable standoff so it fits nice and tight into the dash.
Not only can you buy the gauge pod mount seperately, but I also have specially-priced combo packages that include either a Westach or Dakota Digital EGT & Boost gauge and the mount. Everything you need to monitor your boost and exhaust temps.
Everything in on my website at:
WWW.CUBBYCAM.COM (http://www.cubbycam.com)
But here are some quick links for ya:
CUBBYCAM Gauge Pod Mount (http://www.cubbycam.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=16_17&products_id=7)
Dakota Digital EGT & Boost Gauge w/ CUBBYCAM mount (http://www.cubbycam.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=16_17&products_id=8)
Westach Analog EGT & Boost Gauge w/ CUBBYCAM mount (http://www.cubbycam.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=16_17&products_id=11)
As mentioned, I know I'm a new face around here, but rest assured many Diesel Place members have already purchased my CUBBYCAM backup camera systems and know I stand behind what I sell. All products come with a mimimum one year warranty. But don't take my word for it.. Check out the electrical section on CAFCNA (http://www.chevyavalanchefanclub.com/cafcna/index.php/board,159.html) and see the feedback I have received. Lots of happy campers, for years, not just a couple of months. I have never had an unhappy customer and don't intend to change that one bit.
Never again are you resigned to just an A-pillar or overhead gauge pod mount. Monitor your EGT & Boost the way the factory intended- IN THE DASH, angled towards the driver.
If you have any questions, please post below, but if you need a question answered quickly, please send an email to me at custserv@cubbycam.com. Email is the fastest way to get ahold of me.
Thanks everyone and I hope you like my new mount.

huthuthut 12-03-2007, 10:35 PM Pretty slick setup!
THE TECH 12-04-2007, 12:32 AM Looks sick!
If your camera setups were a bit more reasonably priced, I would have bought one in a heartbeat!
RENODMAX 12-04-2007, 01:14 AM $70!!! Ill take 35!....actually i made my own once for about $10 and it was clean as helllllll.
ABQFirefighter 12-04-2007, 11:02 AM Geez guys, the guy is offering a product for sale. If you don't have anything good to say then don't. If you don't want or like it, then don't buy it. It's that easy.

Man I second that... we all know that if we had the time and skill we could fabricate most any of the aftermarket pieces for our trucks. This gentleman has spent a lot of his time, money, and effort to bring a product to the market. That said, yes I could fabricate a similar mount... Would it have the same high quality of finish as his product? Probably not. Would I have thought to angle the gauge towards the driver? Probably not... And honestly I have better thing to do with my time for how ever many hours it would take me to fab that out and wouldn't mind spending the $70 on it.
By the way, that mount would look awesome in billet aluminum!!!
I think you have a great product, keep up the good work.
Steve
teksavy 12-04-2007, 11:34 AM No worries on the comments. The cold, hard fact of production is the more you make, the lower the price. Since I don't make a ton of these, the price is as low as I can make it. Trust me, I'd love to offer everything at much lower prices, but since I actually MAKE what I sell, unlike most people who simply repackage cameras and monitors from who knows where, cost of production is a lot more for me.
I try to support the boards that support me, and the Diesel Place is the newest on my list. In that vain, I'd be happy to provide a discount code to help with pricing, just email or PM me.
Bottom line, if you want the most factory looking, best backed backup camera and gauge pod mount for your GMT800 truck, there really is no comparison. CUBBYCAM isn't the cheapest, but it is the best.
Thanks.
teksavy 12-04-2007, 11:40 AM Thanks Steve-
You are absolutely right on spending the time on making a mount. I run into that quandry all the time. The most recent is Pergo for my house. It kills me to pay $5000 to have someone install it when I could totally do it myself. However, with a full-time tech job and a side business, there simply is NO time. So I have to suck it in and pay the money. Yes, it kills me, but I'm glad I have an option. And that is exactly what the gauge mount option is- an option.
It was at the request of a Diesel Place member who asked for it and I was able to get it produced. Now I hope I can sell it.
Thanks for the feedback.. I really appeciate it.

HEAVYdutyDMAX 12-04-2007, 03:11 PM Looks like some really quality stuff.
TRMN8R 12-04-2007, 03:24 PM Yea, thanks Ed!...........gives me another possibility of placement.
Nosdog2 12-04-2007, 04:17 PM Great looking product, the back up camera is sweet to.
ruggedlife 12-04-2007, 06:53 PM how does the monitor wire in, is it only active when put into reverse, basically could you put the camera somewhere else and have some sort of switch to turn it on whenever you wanted to???
teksavy 12-04-2007, 07:10 PM All CUBBYCAM systems come with an override switch that allows you to turn it on without being in reverse. In fact, a lot of people who buy my metal hitch mount kit (http://www.cubbycam.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=14&products_id=5) leave it on all the time because it allows them to see traffic in their blind spots since that point to view shows lots of the road.
Also it is perfect for backing up to your trailer, even with a huge hitch installed. Check out these pics on a DMAX:
http://www.bitcircus.com/gallery/v/cubbycam/Duramax/
I also have front lic plate mounts and switcher kits so you can select which camera you want to view. This is great for lifted trucks. I'm adding stuff to my website all the time, so if you need something, lemme know, it might now be in my store yet.
-Ed
Durallymax 12-04-2007, 07:10 PM I know in our RV the camera automatically turns on when you put it in reverse. But Im sur eyou could wire it up so that you have a constant 12v(keyed of course) running through a simple toggle switch to turn it on and off.
PS: Is that bens(Duratothemax) truck in the pic??
TRMN8R 12-04-2007, 07:13 PM Not to hijack the original intent of this thread, but how do you cameras work in the NE...ie, temp extremes within the same day that can lead to moisture buildup BEHIND the lens?, what rez are those cameras? and how do they deal with ice/slush buildup, etc.............thx!
ruggedlife 12-04-2007, 07:21 PM how many cameras can you add to the switcher kit??/price? does the front license plate frame/monitor kit run the same as the rear for the most part?
teksavy 12-04-2007, 07:22 PM I'm going to start a camera's thread on DP so we can post there.
However to answer your questions... quite well. Some cameras can build up condensation inside the unit hen the disceacant has failed and that has happened to a couple of my cameras over the years. But it is NOT common. I simply swapped cameras with the owner and they were on the road again. I have a chap in Montana that sent me a glowing review for cold weather performance.. I can forward it to you if you like.
-Ed
TRMN8R 12-04-2007, 07:23 PM OK, I'll look for the thread..............thx!
Twister 12-04-2007, 07:29 PM That is just the mount I am looking for...perfect.

Ed,
Welcome to The Diesel Place. I'm sure you'll enjoy it over here, too.
For those who don't know Ed, he's a good man to deal with and stands behind his products. He's developed quite a following on CAFCNA, and I'm not the only one who would vouch for his credibility or his products.
OK, back to the topic at hand....
Bud
Trippin 12-05-2007, 12:02 AM Nice looking piece!
teksavy 12-15-2007, 02:14 PM Thanks Bud for the welcome! As I'm sure many of you know Bud is a great asset to the GM truck community. Not only does he know his stuff, but he's a great guy too!

ElCaminoManT 12-25-2007, 12:59 AM i really like the look of this product. been checkin it out for a couple weeks now, just lookin for the right EGT gauge. thinkin the autometer cobalt 1600* would look pretty good in this nice mounting.
alvareracing 12-25-2007, 09:54 AM I like the clean out of the way mount. Very Nice! Do you think it would fit the NBS LMM's?
abcdefg3 12-25-2007, 10:57 AM I've emailed them two weeks ago with the same question, no response..
Descartian 12-25-2007, 12:39 PM I ordered my bumper/hitch plate adapter from Ed just after the start of this thread. I had very prompt responses to my questions and quick shipping. It was a pleasure Dealing with Ed...
Thanks Ed!
Steve
underPSI 12-26-2007, 08:46 PM Awesome setup. The fact that it's not made in China and the money goes to support a fellow American makes it worth every penny. I'll be ordering mine soon.
cuffnup 12-26-2007, 09:51 PM good looking product...would be nice not to have it on the pillar..keep up the good work
teksavy 12-28-2007, 01:00 AM Hmm.. I answer every email every day, sometimes within minutes of receiving it... You aren't Jack by any chance? I noticed that someone (you?) sent me two emails asking the same question and I replied both times. If that it you, for some reason you aren't getting the email I'm sending out. Please PM me if you are Jack.
If not, what email address did you send from?
Also, by LMM NBS, I assume you mean 2007 and newer GMY 900 trucks? If so, there is no cubbyhole mount on some of the "luxury" dashes. If you post a pic of your dash, I'll see if I can make a mount that will fit.
Thanks for your interest everyone.
I've emailed them two weeks ago with the same question, no response..
ElCaminoManT 12-28-2007, 02:32 AM ill be ordering a mount from you when in feb. when i get my autometer pyro
teksavy 12-28-2007, 12:37 PM Awesome.. Looking forward to the order. BTW, which model of autometer are you using? And did you consider the Dakota Digital unit I sell prior to choosing the Autometer unit? If not, how come?
What was the primary reason you chose the autometer gauge?
Thanks,
Ed
ill be ordering a mount from you when in feb. when i get my autometer pyro
camcojb 12-28-2007, 02:05 PM do you have plans for one to fit the 07.5-08 trucks? They have a cubby in the same place, but probably a slightly different size.
Jody
wscato 12-28-2007, 04:34 PM I'm getting ready to add a cap to my truck and change out the tailgate lever to a lockable one. Will the camera tailgate bezel mount work with the lockable version?
teksavy 12-28-2007, 05:10 PM There is no cubbyhole mount on some of the "luxury" dashes. If you post a pic of your dash, I'll see if I can make a mount that will fit. I don't think the GMT800 model I have will work.

Jody
teksavy 12-28-2007, 05:24 PM If the unit you are considering has a key, then it wouldn't work as the replacement bezel doesn't have a key provision. (The factory one doesn't either.)
However, if the locking unit you are considering used an electric locking mechanism uses an electric motor that mounts inside the tailgate, you should be fine. Other customers have done so on GMT 800 trucks.

here's a pic, and yes, it's different shaped than what you pictured earlier.

Whaler22 12-28-2007, 09:38 PM Looks sick!
"Sick" means good? :wtf:
Whaler22 12-28-2007, 09:49 PM I have some of the same concerns about snow/ice/dirt built-up on the lens -- that's my only remaining camera-related concern. (I'm leaning towards the Cubby-Cam license plate cam-ount.)
BTW, TRM8R, are you near Buffalo, Colorado or Buffalo, Oregon? (The "ski-country" reference... They don't have skiing in New York, do they? ) :)
LS6Caddy 12-31-2007, 11:47 PM Thanks Steve-

Ed,
You do make a great looking product and I've been looking to fab something like that up for the past few months. Just haven't had the time or the energy!!
Was considering ordering one...Price is a little steep ( I understand you have to recover your costs...that's fine. But $12 bucks to ship that little thing to NY....can't justify that. For $82 bucks I'll have to get motivated and make my own) If you can possibly lower those shipping costs...maybe I'll change my mind. Thanks again and keep up the good work.

Wow, you're more disciplined that I am. I'd be inclined to think, "The difference between free shipping and $12 shipping is three gallons of fuel and a cup of Starbuck's coffee..."
I'm cheap, but that's not enough to motivate me to do/make/fabricate anything. (It IS enough to make me select another vendor, unless there is no other comparable choice, of course.)
RENODMAX 01-01-2008, 01:31 AM flat rate usps BOX is only $8... envelope is $4 or 6 i believe.
abcdefg3 01-01-2008, 09:24 AM Still....It's only 12 bucks....

I've definitely been called cheap before. But it's not really the $12, more the principal that the piece is already $70 bucks then another 12 for shipping for something that should only cost $4 bucks!!! Hecht, why not even throw in FREE SHIPPING to DP members!! Now that's an idea. That's all I'm saying. I don't mind a person making a living, but enough is enough:cool: That's all...just the principal of it, no anomosity to anyone!!
Happy New Year to all:D
JMGAZ 01-02-2008, 07:39 PM Hecht, why not even throw in FREE SHIPPING to DP members!! Now that's an idea.
Id be in for one.
Has anyone tries the Dakota Digital gauge yet. Is the pyro probe and boost install the same as other gauges?
Whaler22 01-18-2008, 06:28 AM I've been unable to reach Teksavy via PM for a few days, and I'm ready to order my video camera set-up. Can anybody tell me the camera make and model he's selling? Our local stereo store is selling a camera that LOOKS very similar to the Cubby Cam version, but it's only $150 instead of $250. They're probably totally different cameras, but I can't confirm that without make and model information. Anybody got it?
teksavy 01-27-2008, 04:16 PM Hi Everyone.. Sorry for the delay in responding to this forum, but I focus on emails directly to me as I get busy at work a lot. I discovered that the PM notification option was off on my PM account here, so I didn't get whaler's PMs until he emailed me. Anyway, I contacted him as soon as I got his email and answered his questions. I also turned on the PM email notification, so the delay shouldn't happen anymore. Sorry about that.
I also wanted to let you know that I discovered a shipping bug in the postage estimation module for my site. Since all of my packages over $100 are shipped with insurance, the shipping cost of $11.50 included insurance. I have since fixed that bug and now shipping for the gauge pod mount is $4.95 for west side of the country and $7.50 for the east side using Priority mail. That is my cost for shipping. I have never added markup for shipping. I hate that when I shop and I don't expect to do it do my customers.
In addition, I have lowered the price of the gauge pod mount to $49.95 (almost a 30% savings!). In addition, you still get 10% off for being a DP member! So, you could have a CUBBYCAM gauge pod mount for as low as $49.55 delivered to your door depending on where you live.
Hope that clears everything up. Thanks for your comments!

teksavy 01-27-2008, 04:18 PM I have added more detail on my website about the DD gauge pod mount. Basically the sensor looks like an O2 sensor. Please let me know if you are interested or need more info.
Has anyone tries the Dakota Digital gauge yet. Is the pyro probe and boost install the same as other gauges?
LS6Caddy 02-07-2008, 06:13 PM Just wanted to thank Ed for putting out such a great product:D Pricing has also come down, plus DP members get a 10% discount. Best deal of the year!! Thanks again Ed. Great product and fit perfectly...installed in less than 10 minutes.
ElCaminoManT 02-08-2008, 09:51 PM what gauge is that?
jeepj10jim 02-09-2008, 10:04 PM Yeah what is the brand of that gauge?
LS6Caddy 02-10-2008, 12:53 AM That's the S.P.A. gauge. Lots of guys had problems with the backlighting in earlier models. Mine has been great so far:rolleyes: You can also change the display from green to red. It also recalls the highest boost/temp readings as well as a bunch of other stuff I haven't yet figured out!! There are about 20 different settings on that gauge.
I wanted to go with a single (EGT/Boost) gauge..and at the time, that was pretty much the only thing out there. I think Dakota Digital has one now as well.

I'll be buying one shortly now. That's more in my price range. How do I get the member discount? PM or E-Mail ?
teksavy 02-10-2008, 01:56 PM Thanks for the post LS6! Looks great! I'm very glad that you are happy with it.
For anyone else who'd like one, please PM or email me for the 10% DP discount code and I'll get it to you right away.
Also, someone asked about the Dakota Digital gauge. I sell a combo package with the gauge as well as the mount for a discounted price. Not only does it display EGT and boost, but a third temp parameter as well. The VFD matches the factory VFD's in your dash nicely.
