 "2005 will have two fuel filters, and upgrade will be available this spring, for all duramax's"

I am not accusing anyone of starting a rumor, but I read this and thought it would be nice if it were true - so,, is there any supporting evidence to this comment????????

I doubt it. Where did you read it?

GM came out with a new more effecient fuel filter but that is all I am aware of. There are quite a few 2005's out there, I'm sure we would have heard by now if they had 2 fuel filters.

Here, in a conversation on a different thread. Quoted from a GM engineer, i don't believe everything I read, but I figured I would through it out there....

I was told by my GMC dealer service manager that GM is working on secondary filter system for the Dmax, but when it becomes availible the dealership must be installed it.
You can buy it from them but YOUR installation will void warrantee. -:t No idea when that will be?! cost around $200.00 or so???

I hope they include a lift pump! Censored Oh thats right, you said $200.00 That means it will be the $35.00 filter mount with $5.00 worth of rubber tubing, two $1.00 clamps and a $10.00 filter. Then they will charge $100.00 for mounting the junk. -:t

It could be the Racor Kit we heard about months ago... IIRC, rumor was that GM would install the kit as an option..

Lets hope if it is the Racor kit, they make sure it's the "deluxe" type (with WIF and heater) and will include the rockguards.

What good's a rockguard when the fuel cooler is so exposed as it is. In case you haven't noticed the antilock brake system is in the frame rail with electrical plugs waiting to be submerged in water and mud.

On the other hand.... have we ever heard of any complaints of damaged fuel coolers, punctured fuel filters or antilock brake system problems due to contamination or shorting. Almost none since day one.

Having a bad day? Sure sounds like you're a little testy today, Hoot.

If GM were to install these, we may as well insist on the whole package....
