Thinking of gettin the factory remote start installed(have the remote start prep). However my nephew has it in his '07, but when he uses it , the truck starts but the fan, radio, and other accessories dont turn on unti he gets in truck and puts the key in. He's still gettin into a cold truck, because nothing works until he put key in ignition. seem kinda odd to me.:(

Buy an aftermarket one.

Our two '07.5's with digital temp controls go into overide when cold starting remotely. The heat and blower go hot and high until the key is installed and turned, then it goes back to the previous setting.

Mine and nepews truck do not have the digital controles. Ad far as aftermarket-dealer said aftermarket kit would void warinty.to starter, and most electrial stuff.

He might be, but If something happens, he's got the last say in the matter. He tells GM that problems stem from afermarket remote starter, im SOL..

Jusy seems kind odd that when nephews factory remote is used, the fan and most electrial stuff wont work until ket is put in ingnition.

Ill do some more research. Maybe his has something wrong w/it????

Your dealer is full of crap as already stated. He is also breaking the law. The consumer protection act states that one can't void a warranty based on the addition of an aftermarket product. The dealers use it as a scare tactic. Honestly, with the technology that is in todays remote starters, there is virtually no way to damage the starter or any of the electrical components. That is, with the correct installation

Your installer has not installed the kit correctly, period. Yes, you have to remember to leave the temp on hot and the blower on high defrost, but a properly installed kit will power the heater and defrosters if it is installed correctly.

My nephews remote starter is factory installed..I thought he was nuts or doing something wrong, until I checked it out.

What truck (year) is it?

I can't remember which one it is, but one of them uses the factory remote that you press the door lock button twice. Maybe someone could chime in and let us know which one it is. This could make it a little less noticeable to a suspicious dealer!

My 07 DMAX has the remote start option from the factory and when it statrts it throws the blower motor on high defrost. I have a Cobalt I normally drive to work to save $$, but the remote start is making me too lazy to scrape frost and snow at 5am to go to work. For now I'm spending the extra $25 a day to get into a warm vehicle.

Is it the 03-07 or the 07.5?

Do you have climate control or dual-zone manual HVAC?

ok so all you have to do is have everything set up before you cut the truck off and go to start it the next time and you're good to go right??? i need to try this out on mine...i've just gotten in the habit of going out and starting it up but forget that i'm gonna go hi-tech the next time...:)

I have dual climate control and defrost and heated seats come on automatically wether they were on or not. When you put the key in seats go off and defrost goes off and dual climate control kicks on. It will do this only when its below a certain temperature (freezing, or close to it).
I was told by the dealer that during the summer it will automatically turn the AC on if cab temp is above a certain temp.

It doesn't matter what is turned on when I shut the truck off.

Ok so am I to understand that my truck could be upgraded to a factory remote start by just adding a module, since I already have the factory door locks? I would think the benefits would be ease of install, but are there any more? What are the negatives?
