I read this on another site. The owner mentioned the following "The only problem I have was the lift pump go out about $180 to replace. Cummins knows it is a poor design and it is warrantied with the 100K standard engine warranty. However, there are a couple of fixes for that: a 6 psi carver pusher pump or a Fuel Air Separation System."

I like to know if you all agree with that fix.

Also, my truck is a 01 Dodge 6-speed manual. Are all this models set up with the hig output engine? How do I know if I have the HO engine? Thanks.

Not sure about the carver, but there are quite a few different PSI pumps out there,a lot of guys place add another pump back by the tank, just in case the OEM lift pump goes out.

Yes, you have the HO engine. Six speeds only came with HO's in 2001.

Whats the difference between the HO and the non-HO?

The Rasp system is a good fail safe replacement

HO's have a different injection pump than the SO's(standard output). HO's also have a higher compression ratio. You can acutally get more power out of an SO because their injection pump flows more fuel.

H.O. makes 30 more ponies, The pumps are different, but I've seen a HO pump swapped into a 'regular' Cummins and got similair HP gains. As far as supply pumps, stay away from Carter and Master. OEM ones are better, but not that great either, Bosch blames most of their warranty injection pump failures on failed supply pumps causing cavitation erosion inside the injection pump. I think probably the best solution would be the Air Dog or similair aftermarket setup.

I've been working with Amianthus on testing a lift pump setup on his 99 with twins/injectors/Bluechip FMS etc and have had good success so far. This is after having repeat failures on PE 4200 and similar units.

I understand the HO has higher compression of 17.0 vs 16.5 for the std units

so 235hp 460tq ho 245 hp 505tq i don't think the injection pumps are compatable with the different ecm's

I don't know if they're 100% compatible, but I do know I've seen it done both ways, HO pump on a SO made much more power, and SO pump on an HO truck made it low power.
