: What gauge would disguise my juice egt sensor?
Bluejay 12-17-2004, 06:55 PM I am worrying about having to take my truck in for service and having them see the egt sensor in my exhaust manifold (after I remove all of the Juice with Attitude). I was wondering if there was some gauge that I could temporarily put in my truck that would use the same probe. Any cool ideas appreciated.
Jay
Max Payne 12-17-2004, 07:22 PM An Autometer pyro would work with the same probe. Be careful when you choose an Autometer pyro though, as they come with or without a new sensor, you need one without a sensor. Others may work too, but this is all I have experience with.
tophog 12-17-2004, 10:15 PM This is one of the reasons I chose to stay with my original Juice (before Attitude was available) and Autometer guages/probe. All I have to do is unplug/remove Juice ...about 30 seconds.
How you doing Jay? We met at PDX meet this fall.
vegasdude 12-17-2004, 10:51 PM Heck I took my truck in to my GMC dealer and they asked what is that display and I said it's the attitude and that I used it to monitor my EGT's. They said cool...................they didn't even know what the edge\attitude was..........................
motovet 12-17-2004, 11:35 PM I wouldn't do anything, but if you would need service and they do happen to ask about the probe...just tell them you haven't finished the guage install yet. How you guys doing? We will have to have another meet next year...couldn't be any smaller than the last.):h Going to the dealer with the Juice MIGHT be risky business.:o
akdiesel 12-18-2004, 06:03 PM I agree with motovet. If you go to the extent of haveing to hide the probe then you will need to cover or remove the velcro, the exhaust if you have one, and any other after market goodies, not just engine inhancements becasue if they want to have an attitude (no pun) about the things you have put on your truck they can come up with all sorts of accusses for the reason to void warrenty. This does not mean that they have the right to void it but they can try.
I wuold just take out the desplay so that they don't play with it and mess up any settings you have made.
acehi 12-18-2004, 09:20 PM I agree. I just unplug my attitude and leave the EGT cable in place. I had a story in place in case they ever asked but they never did. If they would have asked my story was basically the same as what Motovet said.

ChrisF 12-19-2004, 03:24 AM I just unplugged my TST box to take mine in for a steering shaft and left the probe in. The TST box is just like the Attitude. I was just going to tell them I was just starting to install a gauge if they asked):h , but no one even noticed.... They just keep asking me "Didn't you have a Cummins before?" And I told them ya but after going on the 4th Injection pump at $1,700 bucks :( a pop and the Crappy Auto, I thought I would try a Chevy:D
smokin dmax 12-19-2004, 07:15 PM when I had my injectors replaced, i left everything in. They didnt say anything about it and it was all covered under warranty. Guess I got Lucky
BlueDMax 12-19-2004, 09:35 PM Each dealership is different. My old dealership, which has a "pro shop", installed my gauges. In fact, they will now install Juice/Attitude now. So there was no problem leaving anything on. The pro shop guy asked if he thought the Juice installed on a customers' truck might be responsible for bad injectors. He said 'no' and the guys injectors were replaced under warranty. I might drive the 150 miles do more business with them while I'm under warranty.

Dumb but lucky. sooner or later some tech will catch you. If anyone asks just tell them it was installed by the previous owner . . . .assuming you are not the original!!!
HD-Nate 12-22-2004, 03:20 PM I just pulled the EGT probe out an put a brass plug in it with a little anti-sieze on the threads.
Dealer who said he could give a rats azz what I put on it, said to remove any performance devices before bringing it in just in case the district guy came in.
My story, if asked:
"I put a EGT guage in my truck on the piller and didnt care for the way it looked, so I took it out".
fannypack 12-22-2004, 08:03 PM Yeah, my dealer in southern california has no problem with the edge either, and told me just to leave it on. I'm sure if I fried the tranny, then they would deny me the repair (but wait, I did fry my tranny and I upped it to a suncoast 3 myself anyway on my dime). Asking the dealer to cover repairs for issues that 'I' caused with boxes and other add ons is bs, which is probably why many dealers are so gun shy of mods to cover themself if audited.
dcraig4570 01-05-2005, 12:45 AM Took my truck in to the dealer with the juce off and the diesel tech asked me what all attitude was for, I told him to keep an eye on the EGT and he laughed and said me had a hunch what it was for and next time to bring it in with the chip hooked up. So I did, when I went to pick it up he came over with a big smile on his face and all he said was makes a hell of a diference how that d-max runs don't it.

Sounds like you let him have a free upfront rid on your rollercoaster.
cdhd2001 01-05-2005, 12:00 PM Before I installed the probe, I wrapped the external portion (not the part inside the header!) with 3m electrical tape. First time the probe got hot, the tape melted together (this is what is made to do on hot days) and formed a black ruber skin for the probe. This took care of the "Edge Products" written on the probe. Plus, if someone is being nosy, I can verify it.
dcraig4570 01-05-2005, 11:08 PM Oh well if the guy that fixes it wanted to take it out for a fast lap in exchange for not raising any questions about the mods I add that's fine with me.
