After seeing a few posts about high & low beams, it got me thinking about another feature I would like to have.

I would like my stock back-up lights to come on when I turn my cargo lamp on. Is there a way to do this similar to the high/low beam idea?

I've read through most of that, did before I posted. I don't have an don't intend to install aftermarket back-up lights. What I want is for the stock reverse lights to come on when I turn the cargo lamp on. This would help when hooking up the trailer or working on something on the tailgate with the bed covered.

you might be able to use part of that installation with a relay under the dash that gets powered up from the BCM plug 3 pin D and pin M and then run it out to the stock backup lights. I have not tryed this and someone may chime in but i think it would work

on edit: here is a picture of the BCM

Well after doing some more reading I may have a simple solution. Again what I am after here is to have the stock reverse lamps light when I turn on the cargo lamp.

I think I can simply add a diode between C3-D and C3-A, so that the current can only flow from D to A, enabling the reverse lights to come on with the cargo lamp and not the other way around.

Does anyone see any problems with this?

Just remember if you turn on your cargo lamp at an intersection or driving down the road, your backup lights will come on and scare the bejesus of the guy behind you.If you are not trailering.

Thats a good point there txguppy. I have seen many vehicle going down the road with the reverse lights on and wonder what is going on.

Where is the BCM? Is this the box under the steering column? One that I need to remove the lower section of dash to get to? Or is this located in the fuse access panel on the drivers side of the interior?
