So I just got my pyro and boost gauge installed today and I'm a little worried.

The only mod I have is the superchip tuner on the performance tow setting (70HP).

I installed the pyro in the back of the passenger side exhaust manifold according to the Hoot method found in this forum.

So my question is why am I running so hot, runs about 1400 when runnin through the gears at full throttle but once, I hit about 96mph in 5th it climbs really quick above that so quick the first time I ran it the truck it went over 1600 before I could get my foot out of it. Is this normal. When I cruise at 75 it runs at about 680 on the flat.

I talk to a ford diesel guy and he thinks that the pyro might be picking up some flame heat being mounted so close to the cylinders.

Could someone shed some light on this please, it has me a little worried.

The tuners can run really hot if they are just throwing fuel at the motor at the wrong time.........it winds up making a lot of heat.........

If it makes you feel better I can PEG mine at will beyond 1600 degrees........running a big tune.........

A short balst should be fine.........but if you are towing a load and PEG it for a long time I would start worrying........

So you would say my readings are accurate and it wouldn't be flame in the manifold causing these temps?

Get a 4" free flow exhaust and your Temps should drop 100 to 200 deg. If I remember correctly my predator will bounce around 600 deg at 75mph. I've been over 1600 deg (once or twice).

Reset your truck back to stock and see what happens. At least that way you can decide whether your pyro is the problem or the program.

If it is an Auto Meter call them and ask them what the power draw is for your gauge.
I had their gauge and it was reading extremly high. higher than what you are seeing and it also had stopped at about 700 deg for a long time. I found that I did not have a good connection with the wires. Fixxed and the temps are reading correctly now.
If you do think it is touching the wall push it in as far as you can and pull back about 1/4 of an inch or just measure the distance with the brass fitting in place and see how far it is from the top of the brass to the wall. I would think that the temps would be the same on the wall as well as the air, just that if it is on the wall it will remain that temp for a while and not respond quickly like it should.
