Does anyone know the sizes of speakers in a crew cab 2500hd and an extended cab 2500hd. I'd like to know as I may take the speakers out of my current truck and swap to either the extended or crew (which ever I purchase), if they fit.
thanks,
Justin

The front door speakers are 6.5 inch and the rear in the extended cab are 4X6 and in the crew cab they are also 6.5 inch... Good luck

If you go to http://www.crutchfield.com, you can put in the make, model, and year and come up with what fits for your vehicle. You can browse through their speaker selection to get the depths that will fit along with the diameters. Happy searching.

Question(s). Kind of ignorant of the stereo equipment. Can you just replace the speakers and get better sound? Is the stock radio strong enough to push some quality speakers? Or are you better off getting an amplifier along with speakers? Thanks in advance.

In my '99 what I did was to leave the stock head-unit in, but utilize the pre-amp outs to go to 2 seperate amps: a 4x100w to drive the 4 Boston door speakers, and a 100w amp to drive a seperate sub under the back seat. I mounted the amps to the back wall behind the rear seat.
The reason I went this route was to keep the look completely stock... the head-unit is stock, the speakers are not, but that fact is hidden by the speaker grills, the amps are not visible, nor is the sub. To John Q Thief, nothing to break in & steal, but the truck can rock-n-roll down the road. Plus I don't like how most after-market head-units fit in place of the GM head unit.
Now for my question:
My new 05 has the Bose system. I would like to again do the same as I did in my '99, and stay with the stealth system. Does anybody know, are there still pre-amp outs in the Bose stereo to allow me to utilize the external amps, and does anyone have any experience, are the stock speakers good enough with power, or should I still plan on swapping speakers if I can amp.
Or maybe, I should just run a seperate amp for a sub, and just add a sub?

in order to add an amp to your bose system (keeping the stock headunit) you need a interface to give you preouts. look at pac audio (www.pac-audio.com) they have interfaces for many different combos for the bose system. some bose systems in the trucks have a factory subwoofer under the center console (on bucket seats).

The crutchfield fitment guide SUCKS. I went with infinity 62.5 kappas 6 1/2". They were a reccommended speaker from the infinity site but the crutchfield site said only low profile speakers would fit. The 62.5 fit just fine and sound really good.
