Was supposed to say do. I am new to mods on a diesel engine we usually just run them the way they come. However i bought a Quad programmer for my LMM and am running the 70 tune I am not racing or pulling in competions I mainly just got it to correct my tire size. Most of my drivingin short trips in and out of the city and around the farm. My question is are gauges really that important to a guy doing what I do? If I have heavy towing to do like anhydrous tanks on the farm I will be returning my truck back to stock. Thanks for your opinions.

If you're stock towing, I wouldn't worry too much. A 4" exhaust will lower your EGT's also. A 70 HP tune around the city without a load shouldn't be an issue IMO.

Some still prefer the 'piece of mind' with additional guages on their stock vehicles. Personal preference.

I haven't looked at the boost gauge for a couple of years. I only look at the EGT when towing and running WOT empty - but it's referenced every time in those cases to make sure I back out or roll back to keep EGT out of the red.

Quad has reasonable EGTs -- close to stock, in fact -- but if you're towing with a tune you ought to have an EGT gauge. It's just good common sense. Empty, I have not even been able to get EGTs over 1300 with my Quad box on WOT runs to 75-ish. I wouldn't worry about boost unless you're goofing around with your wastegate.

I watch the egt a lot, especially when towing. Boost is another story. I may replace it with something else.

I look at mine quite often. To much money in them not to...:)

I look at mine quite often, especially empty cruising on the freeeway. The lower I can get the EGTs the less fuel I'm using. :D

Also, even STOCK pulling my horse trailer up a hill I could get it past 1250 degrees. It's just peice of mind, there's others on here that tow heavier than i do and drive harder with it in tow than I do without gauges and never have a problem.
I like the peice of mind they give me, and being i have EFILive I like to watch the changes of my tuning.
