I am looking for a replacement to the existing black plastic tailgate cap on my '04.5 GMC. I don't want to cover the black, I want to replace. Does anyone know who makes one and a part number.

The version I got from Dee-Zee, which was the full diamondplate tailgate protector, installs over the existing black piece (which was exactly what I wanted). You would need to leave the black piece on, too, because it does not come down far enough to cover the holes in the tailgate. Dee-Zee may make different models, though.

Check with Deflecta-Shield. I have a catalog from them and the pics that they have in it show the protector coming down to cover the holes.
