I will be on a temporary leave starting immediatly, I dont know the extent of it but things are getting too overwelming at this point with the forum keeping up with parts orders, trying to make a living, and family time. I will process the parts orders that have been recieved at this point but will not be taking any orders for the time being. For those of you waiting on Schaeffer stuff, its coming, I am out and order more so thanks for your patience, if you want to cancel your order, I will do so. But its coming. I may stop in and read the boards once and a while to see whats up but will not be posting. There is a lot of good knowledgable people here to help out so I dont think you will be at a hinderance. Things are just getting over bearing and I have to concentrate on making a living again. The bills are stacking up....... Its not busy enough to pay for them so I must do more extra circular activities to offset the slow time. NO, its nothing illegal, you alll know me better then that. Perhaps some side work. Thanks all for understanding....

Take your time .... Take care of the family yourself and your job ...

We'll be here when your ready ....

If I may suggest have your parts person take over the orders after all your dealer will benefit while taking that load off you, leaving more time for yourself ....

Have a nice sabatical nevertheless...

Eric I never made it out to GR to meet you, missed Oct 11th, but I've always wondered to myself "how does he do it?" Sounds like a well deserved rest. Just would like to say thanks for all you have shared and done, and if you ever make it to the Tech Center area for training, give me a PM and I'll buy you lunch and a beer (or a few).

Wouldn't it be nice if we could consolidate all the best posts in Eric's column and make a book; sell the book to all who want a copy, and send the profits to him?

Eric:

It sounds like you have your priorities straight to me (even if I was about to order some things!)http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif Now that I have reached a ripe old age (47) and 'retired' from the AF, when my coworkers get all excited about things, I say "No job is worth dying over." Which to me means for 24 years the mission came first. Now, I spend my energy taking time to do things with my family first and the job comes second (or farther down). The company may not like that, but the company won't miss me for long when I'm gone!

So you do what is right for you and your family and we'll just have to deal with it.

BTW, reconsider that Pay-Pal tip jar idea. I'm sure most here would gladly 'donate.' At least let us help offset your expenses.Edited by: Kartattack

I just wanted to thank you for all your help your will be missed but family is 1st. I have an idea I think your dealership should let you do your posting from work they are benifitting from it anyways maybe set aside 1 hour per day to answer questions. Let someone else take care of the parts like Mac said ordering again the dealer is benifiting from that. I assume you enjoy answering peoples questions just a suggestion but you better not be reading thishttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Approve.gif.

Thanks

Eric,

Spend as much time as you can with your family....life is WAY too short not to!!! Even though we'll miss you, I applaud your decision!! http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gifhttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif Family first ALWAYS!!!!

I've only been part of this forum a short time, but I can see from all these posts that you have a lot of people here that admire, respect, and think the world of you! You are a wonderful example of the Golden Rule..."Treat others as you would have them treat you". I wish I was closer to G.R. so I could have you as my mechanic!! Mackin and Shaydog24 both have good ideas...why not run them by your dealer? They'd be foolish not to listen to your ideas, you are a wonderful asset to them (and us).

Enjoy Life!!!!!http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Big Smile.gif Thanks!!!! Baco http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Thumbs Up.gif

Eric,

Thanks. It is a testament to how few good dealers/mechanics are out there that one guy who really cares and trys so hard gets overwhelmed by questions and orders because so few will or can help. The saddest part is that for all your hard work helping us, is that you now have to think about moonlighting to make ends meet. You work fulltime, help out a thousand or so people online and then have to moonlight. I agree with the others that your dealership should give you time at work to work online. Maybe your own office with a dedicated line or two so you don't have to use your personal cell phone to take orders. Your dealership by now must realize how much your selling online and it must be helping their bottom line. So they should help out your bottom line too. Also with all the smart people out there I hope that someone can figure out a way for Eric to make some money sharing his talents and knowledge so we can still benefit from his help and he can stay home with family and not moonlight. I for one would happily pay for good advise/products from Eric. Anyway buddie I hope all is well and thanks again,

Steve

Ok, that's great -- now it's time for Eric to come back and say he loves us all and that the outflow of emotion is overwhelming so he's taking it all back and he'll continue to offer The PLace the incredible assitance he's always provided....right Eric.....Eric,......Erichttp://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Cry.gif

I have an idea you might like. Why not put together a "Do-it-yourself" type of manual? Your knowledge on certain maintenance tips and tricks, plus overall knowledge would be very valuable. You could also include photos. I, for one, would pay a good price for such a manual. How about it? Anyone else willing to pay for a Duramax Diesel manual by Eric?http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/smileys/Clap.gif
