My factory rubber wiper blades finaly starting tearing so I went to Wal-Mart and bought some triple-edge wiper blade insert refills to replace the factory ones.

But these new ones seem to miss a spot on the windshield and it's driving me crazy.

Is there a way to correct this or should I have just bough the original replacements parts from GM?

I told myself that when I bought another new truck that I would not buy anything other than GM replacements parts from the dealer cuz I've learned in the past that you get what you pay for but I figured wiper blades are wiper blades, how could you go wrong?

I have noticed that when I replaced the factory blades with the recomended size on the charts at the store it is always approx 1 inch shorter.

They are supposed to be really good. I haven't tried them yet. Do a search on the forum I think their was a discussion on them a while back,

I put the piaa silicon wiper blades on my 03 a while back.
They don't streak, jerk or make any noise. They do an execellent job at clearing the windshield. They also leave a layer of silicon on the windshield that while not quite as good as Rain-X it does help shed water.

I tried the Triple-Edge and they streaked worst than the ones I replaced. Wally World carries the Rain-X wipers. exchanged for them and all is well......

There was a discussion about them a month or two ago; may have been Idle_Chatters post if you are searching.

Currently on sale here: http://www.performanceproducts.com/ProductPage.aspx?productname=PIAA+Silicone+Wiper+B lades&productid=104672&producttype=10

I have to double check, but I believe we use the 22" ones.

I used to go to Wally's or someplace and fool around with replacement blades. Then I was in the Chevy garage one night and needed a set of wiper inserts but knew I'd spend a fortune on them, but what the heck if it saved me an additional trip somewhere else. The parts manager told me that they were a superior product, engineered by GM for GM etc. I took a set and have always gone back when I needed replacements. I can get them for about $5 per blade even though list is much higher. But they slip right in place. No clips or pins to fool with. I think they are the way to go.

First of all...22" is the correct length of the blade.....Second, being in the parts business for a while, let me just say this.....wiper refills are a complete pain in the ass.....The complete blade assembly is a few bucks more, but you get an assembly that snaps on in 10 seconds or less...nice and simple...There are lots of manufacturers of wiper blades out there (trico, anco, piaa, etc) and finding refills for your blade can be next to impossible....IIRC Gm uses trico for their oem...I could be wrong about that, but they seem to be identical.....Also, bosch makes a very good blade for our trucks as well........

Just a note from a guy that has to put on wipers daily for people that can't figure out how to do it themselves http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/images/smilies/hihi.gif
