If it just shuts off with no lights, it sounds like battery and ground connections...that would be the place to start. Make sure they are clean and well connected.

Brooklyn tow 11-28-2007, 07:31 PM It's so funny how many times you hear "Check Your Grounds", and even better when you do, you find the problem............GMCTD were are you?

If i had to guess, I'd say he's around, just tired of answering the same old questions day in, and day out. Problems encountered and cries for help here are seldom new, just about every conceivable question has been asked, and answered, many times over.
Just for grins, I did a search of this forum for "shuts off" and viola - 164 threads.
Brooklyn tow 11-28-2007, 07:41 PM One of the last GROUND posts from JD was hillarious.

green beauty 11-28-2007, 09:21 PM thanks for reply, the stalling started 5-6 months ago, at first it would crank right back up, then gradually it got more and more difficult until it wouldn't start at all. With the help on this site I found out it was the PMD and changed it. moved it to fire wall away from pump so it wouldn't get hot anymore. It's been running great until now. ???
simone0414 11-28-2007, 09:23 PM Sounds like pmd to me. My truck did the same thing. If you pmd is still on the pump it could crap out very quickly. REMOTE MOUNT IT AWAY FROM THE ENGINE BAY.
Before you just start throwing parts at it fill out diagnostic checklist & post it on here. This will help determine exactly what the problem is.

Did you buy a kit to relocate it or did you make one yourself? Was there a waranty with the pmd you bought?
green beauty 11-28-2007, 09:36 PM thank you for your reply, I've changed the PMD already and mounted it on the firewall, could it be that again?
nickg 11-28-2007, 11:11 PM . With the help on this site I found out it was the PMD and changed it. moved it to fire wall away from pump so it wouldn't get hot anymore. It's been running great until now. ???
Where did you ever get the idea from this site that moving it to the firewall was a good idea?? I do not think I have ever read a thread that says to mount it there, if anything it would have been better off on the pump as at least it does get cooled there, where it does not get cooled when mounted on the intake or the firewall.
I cant count the times I've read "I just put a new PMD on my intake cooler, it couldn't be that...could it"
Sarcasm aside did you try re-torquing the transistor nuts? you might get lucky and salvage your PMD
green beauty 11-29-2007, 10:05 AM Well now I feel really stupid, I purchased the PMD and harness on Ebay, as suggested on this site, the instructions when I got them was to put it as far away from the pump as I could i.e. firewall...?
corolla 11-29-2007, 10:26 AM The firewall is still in the engine bay. Mount behind the front bumper nice and cool there!
Is the replacement FSD (PMD when on the pump) mounted to a heat sink?

green beauty 11-29-2007, 10:31 AM Yes, it is mounted to a heat sink now, and thanks, I'll change it to behind the front bumper and hope I can salvage it..
94sub6 5 12-01-2007, 05:18 PM I Was Wondering If Relocating Your Pmd(fsd) Or Whatever It Is Did It Fix The Problem Or Did You Buy Anew One
nickg 12-01-2007, 07:13 PM Yes, it is mounted to a heat sink now, and thanks, I'll change it to behind the front bumper and hope I can salvage it..
Do you mean it was not on some kind of heat sink for the past 5-6months??? or did I just read the thread wrong? and did you try re-torquing the nuts too?
green beauty 12-04-2007, 08:29 PM Does anyone know where the fuel shutoff relay iss?? I am not sure where it is but if anyone is haveing the smae problem as me then I have heard that this could be a result of it. You might want to look into it. If I can find it to change it then I will let everyone know if it works. Thanks if you can hel i would really appriciate it.[
knkreb 12-04-2007, 09:22 PM Has it been without a heat sink this whole time or not?
Are we talking a new PMD or a "used" ebay PMD?
As requested before, do a diagnostic checklist - cut and paste to this thread so we can have a total top to bottom on the whole rig. Many issues cause stalling... read stalling thread. Diagnostic checklist will help to peg the problem... cut and paste it, otherwise you are wasting your time guessing at this part and that part...
