Ideally I'd like to have a nice compressor set up in the garage, but dont have the room for one.

Im doing my lift this weekend and I know that having an impact wrench will make life a bit easier. Im looking at an electric Milwaukee...

...will this suffice for a suspension lift install and general automotive maintenance? Im doing a Cognito 7" with rear spring packs.

We used to use a DeWalt that looked like that for building boat hoists (Shorestation). It worked great, and I would imagine it will break anything that you want off!

It should work fine. If it won't break a nut loose you can always use a breaker bar to get it started and then the impact to spin it the rest of the way off. I used to have an old Sears model that worked ok. I now have air but the one I use the most is my little 14v Dewalt, don't know how I lived without it.

Just make sure if you use an extension cord that it is heavy enough. Trying to run that thing on 18ga lamp cord won't do!

I use one at work all the time on 5/8 and 3/4 bolts. Works just fine. Will break a nut loose torqued to 165 ft/lbs.

Thank for the input. Decided just to go borrow the old mans compressor and air tools.

I still may pick up the Milwaukee to keep around the house. I really dig their Quik-lok system, all my other power tools are Milwaukee Quik-lok and it makes it a lot easier just to pull one cord and switch the tools.

I'd look into a cordless impact for maintance and just to have around the house. I've got two Snap Ons and can honestly say they're the most used tool in my box. I hardly use an air tool now unless I need more power then my cordless provides.

My Milwaukeee impact is exactly like the one you have pictured. It has the quick lock cord and puts out 300 ft/lbs of torque. That thing is bad to the bone and still performs like new after nearly five years of abuse. Highly Recommended..........

We have a Milwaukee like that where I used to work. It was great on the farm because you could take it places where you didnt have air. It was pretty powerful but super large sized so somewhat cumbersome. Also, very heavy.

We also had an 18 volt Craftsman Professional that was pretty good, took a beating and still goes strong. Not as tough as the Milwaukee, but pretty decent.

I personally have a Makita 3/8" drive 14.4 volt cordless impact and I really like it. Doing things like inner fenderwell bolts or stripping interiors in parts cars goes very very quickly with it. Definitely one of the best tools I have ever gotten.

I also have an Ingersoll-Rand 2135Ti air powered impact wrench and it is truly bad ass. Definitely worth every penny.

I picked up a new 1/2" Corded Rigid with case in Home Depot reguarly like $279 on closeout or some return or something for $139 - awesome!!!!

And also Sears started a sale today for a 400 ft lbs Chrome bling bling 1/2" air impact regularly $89.99 for $49.99 this week. Good deal!
