Well I purchased my first diesel (01 Dura) and it got down to about 0 degrees here in MN last night. I wasn't able to get it plugged in last night, however it started a little slow this morning. I let it run for about 15 minutes before I took off to work (which is about 3 miles away) and I couldn't get it past 45mph. When I got into the parking lot at work it died on me. I started it up again and got it parked. I hope nothing is seriously wrong w/ it...I'm assuming that it's just the cold weather and I should have plugged it in. Could I get some assurance or advice as to what exaclty is the problem. Thanks in advance.

Try using some antigel in the fuel, like power service diesel 911. You can get it at most parts stores and I think walmart even carries it.

Sounds like gelled fuel. If you are running winter blend diesel, I'd still put in an additive that will keep the cloud point down. I use Power Service white bottle in the cold winter months, but there are other good brands out there.

X2 on the gelled fuel my 02 was the same way when i was home in jan from iraq and went to start my truck. It started but ran with no power so i went and got diesel 911 and also changed the fuel filter.

It sounds like it gelled. Should be running something if it's that cold. Also, change the filter since it gelled.

Some people will tell you that they never have problems with fuel gelling. Ha!

Run out and get some Howes Diesel Treat. It's 100x better than powerservice in the white bottle. Add 3x the listed dose and it will have you back running. Then run the listed amount with out fail. Don't forget to go back to the station you bought fuel from and tell them that you got gelled up from them. Don't be nasty, just let them know so they can fix the issue.

Don't use Diesel 911 as (I think) it has alcohol in it and that's a big no-no with duramaxes.

Order some Opti-Lube either Winter Blend or the new XPD. Both are anti-gels and both ranked high on the diesel fuel additive study. I just order a bunch of the XPD to try out this winter.
