ok, i installed (finally) some LED rope lights i bought under the rails in the bed. i am putting a 2 way switch back there that will allow me to either turn them on from the bed (position 1) or come on with my cargo and backup lights (position 2). i am trying to pull power from the trailer wiring but cant find any. on the cap for the plug, it shows the pin in the 1 oclock position as "+" and the 7 oclock as "-". the 7oclock one is indeed ground, but i dont get any power from the 1oclock with truck on or off. any help? i know someone mentioned getting power from the accessory wire on another thread, is this supposed to be it? is there a fuse missing that i should check? thanks, i just dont have a repair manual or wiring diagram for this truck yet.

on a similar note, does anyone make a relatively inexpensive repair manual for these?? haynes and chiltons dont have one for the 03-04s yet (at least not in the parts stores ive been in) and i cant afford a couple hundred bucks for the set of GM bible ones. thanks guys!

have you replaced the dummy plug in the fuse box with a real fuse? You should find a 40A fuse taped to the trailier harness that was in your glove box.

If you bought the truck used, there might not be a trailer brake harness with it anymore. The fuse would be in the fuse box under the hood and would be in the top left position (if you are standing at the fender). It might be under the sticker that is folded over that row of fuses. There would be a plastic orange/red "dummy" plug stuck in there. Pull it and replace it with a 40 amp fuse.

03's did not get a trialer harness so you will have to buy a 40 amp fuse

See if you have a MaxiFuse installed at STUD 1, in Fuse Block-Underhood. The sticker on fuse block cover, and the Helms manual say a 40A fuse, however many campers may recommend a 30A fuse from your supply.
