Hi all new to the Diesel Place.
I have been reading old posts here and on other forums about programmers. I have talk to dealers and manufactures. I was looking at the Quadzilla until I talked to a dealer that sells more than one brand. Now I am looking for your input. I know that a lot of them are the same such as the Bullydog, PPE, BD, and the Quadzilla with a little different tuning in it. I don't know to much about the Predator thought. I am looking for info and opinions on what is good and what has worked and not worked for you. Any and all input is appericated.
Also looking for input on intakes such as the AFE.
Thanks,
Kevin

Do you have the lb7 or lly motor? You can find out by looking at the 8th digit on your VIN. If it is a 1, it is the lb7. If it is a 2 than it is the lly. GM ended the lb7 in 2004. In 2004.5, they put the lly in it. The point that I am trying to make is that some do better than others for different models. If you have an allison tranny(stock), I wouldn't recommend putting the highest setting in. Up to 90hp for the lb7, and up to 65hp for the lly.

Welcome to the place.
The AFE has a nice smooth shinny tube. Looks much better than the ugly old black stock intake. Every time you lift the hood you can admire the nice shinny tube. Makes you feel really good. The filter is very nice also. You can hold it up and see right through it. You just have to know it flows lots and lots of air. Lots of dirt also. Makes a lot of noise. Costs lots of money. But you can beat that shinny smooth tube.
Go find the thread by SPICER on filters. Look around for more threads on intakes. You will find that that ugly black plastic intake from the General is about as good as it gets. But unfortunately it is not shinny, it doesn't make much noise and that filter. OMG, you can't see through it. Traps lots and lots of dirt. and really doesn't cause any problems on breathing. And the worse thing is you can't brag to your friends and impress the ladies with that nice smooth, shinny tube and awsome turbo sound.
I wouldn't spend my money on one.

Welcome to the Forum! Depends on what your willing to spend and what you plan to do with the power. It would invest in a better flow-thru exhaust before dealing with the intake (Note previous studies have found the stock exhaust much better at filtering with not the big of a hit on restriction). I personally went with a Predator because of monitoring/diagonist fucntions, only wanted a little of power (50-85HP), stealth and cost.
I think you'll find the Edge/Attitude the most liked power enhancer, and for good reason (guages, tranny protection, engine protection).

Sorry guys, I thaught that I said it was a 2002 so that would be the lb7. Also should have given a little more info on what I was looking for. For now I have taken care of the exhaust and stright piped it, and I am about to order gauages for it. I am looking for a programer over say an Edge so that I can adjust for tire size changes and remove/change the rev and speed limiters. I would like to get something with a good amout of power and I do plan in moding the transmisson in the futue. I do some towing with it from time to time but usually run empty.
As far as the intake goes just lookin to see what other have run into and I am not to worried about the shinny tube as I can just wrap mine in aluminum tape and then it will be shinny and run an Amsoil filter in it.

I am happy with my predator. This is what my gauges look like.

KevinHi Kevin, I'm sure you have done your homework. The edge does adjust tire size for it's own display of speed. I was concerned at first that the speedo was off a little, but I learned it wasn't that much. The DIC is unreliable anyway for MPG, so I don't care about that. I'm putting "fewer" miles on the truck, a nice tradeoff. The safety features of the edge are invaluable, towing with EGT protection backdown. The adjustability is infinite. It is upgradeable beyond 120 HP as well. Also there are other ways to defeat the limiters I believe. Me, I don't go to the track with it, nice to know the boy can't test the speed of sound.
Where in MA are you?

Not to take over the thread but seemed to fit my thoughts too...
Here is my my plan in order of install and wondered if the order is ok or best route in case there were a few months in-between installs. As it's all based on available funds.
First this winter- Install gages. EGT & Boost (full pillar cuz I like the looks)
By spring - Install edge juice (no attitude)
By next Fall - Install 4" MBRP single.
I got a lot of other hunting goodies I'd like to get to so again all based on toy money I can hide.. err.... set aside.
