anyone have there dow pins come out of the adapter plate thats on the back of the motor.i dont see how they couldnt come out steel dows in alu. now i may have a broken flywheel. anyone else have this happen if so did it brake your flywheel ?

I have hear of it , but they never fell out on there own , the installer never made certain they were in place at time of reassembly .

I walked the passenger side dowel pin out of one of my SBC drag engines several years back. I had broke the frame mount of my torque limiter from a severe wheel stand and the engine was moving back and forth without me realizing it. I figured it out when I destroyed my transmission.

i am pretty sure the trans hasnt been out of the truck befor.i dyno motors on a engine dyno all the time with adapter plates just about like whats on the duramax and they will fall out some times but it has a spring loaded hub and is only a short time of use so it doesnt hurt any thing.you cant have some thing pressed into alu.that growes with heat and have it stay in with out some chance of it coming out needs a set screw in it to lock it in. i bet most people dont even know that they have one or both missing
