I'm no mechanic but it sounds a lot like you're burning some oil. How many miles and do you have any mods?

You are probably ok, here's another thread on the same subject...

it seems that when the Diesel is cold white or very light blue smoke that disappears quickly is ok, it's simply that the Diesel is very inefficient when it's cold. The white (or very light blue) smoke is raw fuel, as the engine warms up the smoke goes away as the motor is burning all the fuel.

Now if the smoke sticks around or there is a large ammount of smoke (my neighbor's 6.slow PSD will fog the entire neighborhood!) you may want to have the dealer check it out, may qualify for the white smoke tsb.

Hi!

Are you running a cold front. Diesel engines tend to smoke a tad bit when cold.

After installing my cold front. I see less smoke.

Is your high idle kicking in? Mine smokes a lot when the high idle is engaged.

The LLY sends crankcase fumes back into the intake. More fumes (oil) when cold (engine clearances larger). I have seen a puddle of oil in my intake. It should get better as the engine breaks in. I will vent mine into a accumulator when I am done with GM. Thanx Geo.

Is your high idle kicking in? Mine smokes a lot when the high idle is engaged. At 21 degrees this morning. Started the Durmax and the high idle kicked in there was a lot of white steam out of the duals just like a gas engine. After the engine got warm enough to defrost the windows, all of the steam had disapated and no smoke this morning, even though the high idle stayed on until I was ready to drive off.:)
