Does anybody out there have any pictures of their Amsoil Dual filter installed? I can't decide where to mount my filters. I would like to mount it to the floorpan underneath next to the frame rail. Has anybody done it this way? How did you do it?

I bolted my to the inside frame rail as high up as I could put it. The hoses are only soo long so you do not have many choices on where to put it.

I ordered an extra length of hose & used 1 full length each for intake & return. My fliters are mounted inside and on the frame rail about 18-24" in front of the fuel tank.

I did not mount mine to the cab because I have heard of some people having vibration problems & noise in the cab using the cab mounting method.

Mounted up high on the frame rail, they are well protected & it is pretty easy to add additional "protection" if desired. I do not have any additional protection & it has worked well for me for 40K miles so far . . .

I don't have any pics of my install. Did you purchase a bracket? That is the best way to go (in my opinion). I got mine from Greg, a vendor here. It is a nice bracket, but I still needed an adapter plate to get it where I wanted it.

I have mine on the inside of the frame rail, as far forward as possible. This kept the hoses short. The adapter plate was used to move the top of the bracket up as high as possible, so that there is only about 1/4 inch between cab floor and top of bracket. The adapter plate needs about 1/4 inch offset at the top of the frame rail to prevent rubbing against the lines and wires that are mounted there. Moving the bracket up kept the bottom of the filters just above the bottom of the frame rail.

Worst part of install was making adapter plate and getting it installed on the frame rail. All the rest is easy.

Good Luck.

Here is the Amsoil set up I have. It is approx 1 inch away from the t bars and is level with the bottom of the frame. I added a snow shield for added protection, but may not be needed.

Hey Okie,

Take a look at http://www.amsoil.com/bypassfilters/preston/index.htm. Right from Amsoils website. This is the location I used on my HD. To give you some perspective, the first picture is looking forward on the driver side rail, the second is looking from the right side towards the rear. You will have plenty of hose for this setup.

That truck in the Amsoil pics looks like a 2wd (can't see a transfer case). That makes a difference in mounting in that location.

Not too keen on mounting horizontal either, vertical is the way to go.

The bracket mentioned previously is nice & I ordered one also, but I too had to move it out around the same distance after moving it up (so it wouldn't hang below the frame rail)

I moved it out by welding a plate on the back, I also welded more beef up top on the bracket because I thought it was a little too thin for me, but I usually over-construct everything anyway.

Remember to leave some slack in the hoses, they will handle vibration & any possible incidentals better (like a broken engine mount-god forbid)

No it doesn't, I mounted mine there (4x4 2500HD).

Isn't the stock filter nearly horizontal? Don't think it matters with 55-75 psi pushing the oil thru.

I used the supplied bracket (didn't need all the pieces) and mounted it directly to the frame.

Here's how I mounted mine on a mount supplied by Greg Landyut www.lubespecialist.com (http://www.lubespecialist.com)
