I just wanted to ring in on these tires. I have had many trucks and all different tires, these toyo a/t open country's have been the best and longest lasting tires i have ever had.

I just put my second set on my truck today, with proper inflation and rotation, i was able to get 52,000 miles out of them and they still had a little left :D so if you are in the market for a great tire i give this one a big thumbs up !! I run the 285/75/16's on stock wheels.

I think for on road use you cant go wrong with the A/T's..

My Dad currently has 52K-55K on his A/T's and they are about done. He's real satisfyed with them. He only paid $99 a tire but that has been 2yrs and was dealer cost.

Love my toyo A/T's have worked well for me @ pismo and glamis. I don't think you can go wrong with either one.

I have had very good luck with all the Toyo Tires that I have run on my trucks. They last pretty long and ride very well...

I had them on my last F350 PowerStroke and I really like them. Toyo had a lot of odd "E" range sizes that the others didn't have at the time. I had them in a 305/70/16E.

I got 45K out of my first set of 325/60/18's. Probably would have done better but stopped rotating at 30k. I just put 285/65/18's on. Truck rides better w/ the 285's, much better in the snow too. Personally I like the Toyo AT's better than any tire I've tried. Oh and I rarely get much more than 30,000 out of tires.

Duratime, did you have those 305's mounted on the factory wheels?

Has anyone tried the Toyo Proxes?? I have looked at the Open Country's and I like the look of the Proxes better but I have never heard anything about them.

Also, are the Proxes pretty much street tires, the description says good in mud and snow but that doesn't necessarily mean off road? I need something that will be able to handle the muddy roads of the hunting camp as well as still ride nice on the road during the week. I def like the Toyo's though and have heard nothing but good things about them and the price is great at about 150 bucks a piece.

unless you go 305-60-18 they are under rated weight wise for our trucks.

would I have to do anything to the truck to make 305/60/18's fit?? I don't want to have to cut out wheel wells or get a lift or anything to fit the tires.

since 285/75-16's are pushing it, the wider tire and non stock rim will probably make it rub w/o going higher or cutting the airdam/bumper.

I have not been able to find any tire I would buy again. I run 295-75R16. I went through a set of nitto's in 18,000 miles and the toyo At's I put on 1 year ago september has 25,000 and they are gone. I am glad other guys are having good luck with them, but I don't like them. My truck is stock except for a lift kit and intake.

I think it is all in the maintenance and care of your tires.

I have a set of 285 70 17 tires and I run 55 front and 50 rear. I usually rorate mine every 5k. The last set ran about 48k.

I purchased my second set of Toyo AT's in 285/75/17 E rated for my H2's in September. I had a set on my other truck and like many others here, I wont buy anything else. These tires ride nice and no road noise. I dont think you will find another tire that will provide 50,000+ miles on a heavy truck used for towing regularly. Just my 2cents worth.

This is the next tire size I think I'll go to for my truck. I also tow a 5ver. I just purchased a set of H2's and think this size and E rating will be what I'm looking for.

What kind of weight are you towing? I have a 10k 5er and it eats tires alive, I was thinking of BFG KO 285 75 R16 in an E rating.

I really hope the M/T's do good too, cause I just picked up a set of 285"s. Just about to mount up a set of A/T's for my dad. He's up to 53K or 54K on his A/T's now.

Right now I'm towing a 9k 5th wheel but I've also pulled a 10.5 to 11k. This spring I'm going to be pulling about 11k. I am also using Firestone bags on my truck.

I can live with 48k (about 18 months) do you run 17 for stability or the looks?

G. Mcpherson
12-27-2007, 10:24 PM
I'm running 17 because that was what was on my truck when I purchased it. It seems to drive and handle just fine. I think it's better to have a little more tire and larger wheel for handling.

i love my toyos, they have about 17K miles on em now. been dealin with some vibrations but i dont think its the tires. i found tho that after runnin em on stock PYOs for about 8-9K miles then switching over to 8in wide wheels that they were noisier since they wore in the center more on the narrow wheels. awesome tires, they work great in the sand too! i highly recommend them

unloaded i run 60psi front and 50psi rear on the eagle wheels and a lil less on the stockers. with the 5er hooked up, its 60front and 65-70rear (they are load D)

I have the BFG 285/75/16 and they have worn out so fast................I keep them rotated, but hell, it seems that I loose more rubber off of them every day.

So, I am thinking of moving up to a 295/75/16, but, I want an E rated tire, since we are looking at a 5th wheel toyhauler.............can't seem to find anything.

How many miles do you have on your BFG's?

Anyone that has Run the Toyo A/T vs the Toyo M/T I really like the look of the M/T better, but am worried about noise. I'm ok with a little extra noise, but I don't want to listen to the road WHINE! I drive mostly on the pavement, but I'm at a lot of jobsites. I read someone earlier in the post said that the M/T last longer than the A/t, but I thought that was normally the other way around? Anyone that can chime in on that?

Where are you guys finding the A/T's in 35" size for $150? What size rim? I'm looking at 18" rims and a 35" tire, and wholesale price, the best I can find is $248 each! Hook a brother up!

For those of you that tow heavy I'd avoid the M/T's. In just 5K mine are at 50%  . I haven't been hard on them either. Only one small burnout and some slick roads with heavy trailer in tow.

When my Toyo AT were almost completely worn after about 11k miles and this was normal driving before I even modded the truck I had the Toyo dealer try to get me some concessions from Toyo to give me warranty and they were no help told him on the phone in front of me no warranty for wear even though he argued with them it was premature wear. Yes they ride nice are not loud but if you try to get some warranty good luck. I will never buy them again...

From their site for the A/T's:

P-Metric sizes: 50,000 Mile treadwear limited warranty
LT & Non-P Metric sizes up to 17”: 40,000
18” and higher wheel diameter: Workmanship and Materials

So if your rim is 17" or under you should have a 40,000 mile warranty. If you have 18" or higher I guess there is no warrany.

From their site for the M/T's:

Workmanship & Materials

So I guess NO mileage warranty...........

toyo paid 50% for my out-of-round tire since its normally something that comes up when the tires are brand new and first mounted. i know this since i used to bust tires for a living. chit happens, toyo was cool with me.
