I just bought a fifth wheel. i will use my 07 D/A 2500hd CLASSIC.:D I don't have any question about the truck or the 5ver. it's about TIRES and WEIGHT.
A little history, tire on the 5ver now are Goodyear marathon D rated. these are a replacement for the original junk factory tires. so i was checking weight capacity of the GY tires 2540# i have 4 on trailer = 10160#. am i right so far? I look at the 5ver gvwr and find it's 11200#. am i missing something here? remember these were install as a recall by the manufacturer.

Not all that weight is on the axle's. Apprx 10-15% of the weight should be at the king pin. But even then you will still be close to the tire rating. Many of my friends have switched to load range E tires on thier 5rs due to the D's blowing out with just slightest rough terrain.
