:confused: I have been all over this board and I am still anxious about which performance upgrade to buy. I have a '03 GMC 2500HD Ext Cab/SB that is fun but can be more fun. I want to first off beat the doors off:D my buddies 2003 F-350 with mods and his little friend with an 04 mustang too. I have looked at all the competitiors and want to know what is the best bang for my buck without going deep into Trans, Injector, or Propane work. This is my first diesel, my other truck was '02 Dodge Ram 1500 w/ 5.9 Stage 2 jet chip, Magnaflow exhaust and CAI- 26gal tank=297 miles:eek: that's why I bought the d-max. If you respond with a suggestion or something you use please rate it 1(worst) to 10(best).

I was very happy with the superchip. Great value.

My suggestion is the Edge.:ro) Rated 2-3. It works great and is easily removed I thinkit offers the most one package if you get it with Attitude monitor which serves as guages.:ro) Do a search on here for some of your choices and you will see what others have to say about it.

If you are planning on clobbering late V-8 Mustangs with a 7000lb truck, you should probably prepare to freshen up the trans. At the HP levels required, your trans will probably not last as long as you want.

It sounds to me like you will need to plan on a transmission upgrade. Especially if your buddys Mustang is a Cobra...:eek:

Go with some Edge, Hypertech, Propane, and throw in a little Nitrous just for fun. One way or another it will be quite a ride!!!:D

Some will say programmers which will get you more power, but if you want to get serious I would suggest a transmission upgrade and some Edge Juice or TTS program. This will get you where you want to be and then you will be able to really run hard. Your buddies truck and that mustang should be no problem after that.. Also might suggest an exhaust (any brand 4" exhaust) and some gauges if you choose not to run the edge... Good luck

Get a Hot Edge box drive around for awhile at different throttle position but do not roll into it hard in overdrive!

Line up hit it hard out of the hole race will be over ease up in 4/5 exchange and lighten the foot pressure,you have won already anyway!

Nothing left but the razing,unplug the box and install a Transgo Kit and converter and really whip'im good!

Your results may vary!

sounds like you are going to eventually wana do the trans or you are going to come to a point in time were you have to do the trans. Get that done first or get a 90 hp juice or or one of the TTS lower hp tunes and be carefull. Really sounds like you want trans work done though or will need it.

I've got a juice you can try if you want to make a roadtrip. Huckstorf diesel(a vendor here) is just across the border I believe, he may have something you can try out to see what you like. I duno if there is anyone else fairly local to ya? I would say get your taps reset if possible and set the box to were ever you are going to run it right away and then you dont have to worry about the "training".

new innards installed in your trans. if done by yourself in the 2500$ range for a scIII(very popular and very beefy) or 3500$ or so installed......or upwards of 5k for just the trans not even installed.

Duramaximizer is a pressure type chip. it is an early module. there is much better options out there but it does have its place.

Iv got a duramaxamizer for sale. Had it in my old truck I liked it. good power gain and it installs in about 20min. PM me if your interrested.

I have an offer to buy a HOT juice set up w/ attitude monitor for $600, After reading the replies on here it seems Juice is the way to go. As for the hot juice I know it is more HP and Torque, just need to start saving the pennies for the trans upgrade so I don't drop it all over the road after cranking her up. Here we go again, I was just PM'd and given the low down about the juice problems. I looked at the forums and all pretty much say the same except nothing mentions the HOT OJ. I am looking for the least amount of hassle and damage to the truck.

The info I was given stated that there was some interference with a wiper module and the edge box-something about the frequency of the wiper module screwing up the system. Also they said the most recent problem was with a temp reading being false reading 417 and some fault codes coming up on there engine-don't know if they were stacked or not. They had an LLy and I have an LB7 motor so I don't know if that is a programming issue for them or all D-Maxs. I just want to GO GO GO:D , if you know what I mean. So if you have more info please let me know because I am all to new to the power game.

Fatboy,I have had some issues but none you speak of. Edge makes a good product and power there issues on lb7 have been rectified with version changes in programming.You wont be disappointed with a hot oj unless you put in 5-5 and hammer down your trans wont be happy .For total all out power i would go with tts extreme but the edge with outhers stacked runs well also .We havent hade any complaints in the power dept from anyone with a hot juice. I have the edge because I dont' know what I am doing. I am learning now and feel confident in the purchase. In my opinion the edge is a great device and easy to use. I am slowly learning when and where I want the power based on my usage of the truck. I don't necessarily feel that one is really better than others. I do think that some fit your needs better than others after some tinkering around. From all the reading I have done, the edge is a great device to learn on if your not already experienced.

Well for right now I bought a new predator ($250) and well see how much of a kick in the pants this gives me. If my right foot tells me I need more than let the stacking begin:D . The next step will be the Juice w/ attitude, exhaust, and H2 rims. I have been bitten by the diesel bug and I want to thank you guys for doing it. THIS IS A GREAT SITE!!:ro)
