: replace EGR?

I took in my Dmax for the reflash, first dealer said I needed an EGR due to EGR codes, couldn't tell him I had it disconected. So mean time I get the reflash else where--no more juice knock, same day letter comes from first dealer saying my EGR is in. Should I let them replace it, even though the blocker plate is going in? I am worried it may screw me down the road, they could say, well, we found a problem and you never brought it in!

I would put everything (EGR) back stock and get the codes cleared. Take it back to them and have them check it again. They may not want to replace it.

i had the same thing happen. took it in for some knocking and they said i had 2 bad injectors and a bad egr ( no **** - i had the cat removed at the time, hence the codes ), these guys are not too bright. i let them replace the injectors and put in a new egr even though i had put the cat back on before i came back in for the fix - LOL

They cleared the codes and said they could not get the EGR to function properly. Prob. all the extra soot from the juice. Truck is on second day with reflash and juice back on it runs great with the original EGR hooked up. May just set up an appointment, remove juice, and have them put them damn valve on, and talk them into giving me the old gasket so I have two when I install the blocker plate. Odered a finger stick today to fix the codes being set. Then CAT comes off!

Honesty...it worked for me. I just told the mechanic that I DC'd the EGR and that it should show a code. He found the codes, cleared them, and reflashed computer. See ya.
