I am in the process of working on installing my Hummer H2 wheels on my 2500HD and have a question in regards to my next possible upgrade.
I am thinking about putting the Banks Monster Exhaust on my truck but am curious as to how I determine whether I have a cat or not. I know on a car it is very obvious, is it the same on these diesels or is it hidden up next to the engine somewhere? I live in the state of Illinois.
Thanks for any info.

It would be very obvious and right after the down pipe from the turbo.
From posts on forums, it appears only the units sold in CA are with the CATS.
Mine does not have one, it's only pipe and the muffler.

You can see the cat VERY easily. Just look under the Passenger side in between the frame rails. The cat is locates between the torsion bar mount and the engine. It is a little closer to the engine. It is a BIG can.
As a footnote. I have on on my 2003 Chevy and I live in Georgia. It seems to be hit or miss if you have one or not.

I would say it's not "hit or miss", but rather did
your dealer order the truck with CAL emissions or
the Federal 49-state emissions code when they
placed the order...
I specifically did NOT order the CAL emissions
package when I ordered my '04....
