: NEED A 3 or 4 LINK WIZARD... IN SOCAL
MAXLLY 11-24-2007, 01:57 PM First off, I'm serious not playin' around.:)
I need a 3-4 link wizard in San Diego/Orange County. The truck is apart and ready to go. Airride makes a kit with bags to 4 link and lower a dually, I could as others have, use this kit and install it inside the frame rails... but it's $2300 w/o shipping! And the shocks are 4" +/- from the road.
We can buy stout 4 links (1.250 rod) and Firestone bags for $800 with ends (not little ends 5/8-3/4" ends). Unfortunatley you/I need to know all the angles and supporting structure requirments.
Long story short, anybody know a drag racer who has experience with this stuff in SoCal? Need info quickly, thanks.
MAXLLY 11-24-2007, 06:50 PM Anybody? We don't have a crusty old drag racer here? who has forgotten more than I'll ever know?
1TFROT 11-24-2007, 09:03 PM try pirate (pirate4x4.com) and look around there. there's tons of guys with the experience you need and some great calculators to use as well. probably several that would be willing to help out as well (in that area)

Give Jack Bayer a call. He is in Hemet. His shop number is 951-652-6363. He will be able to help you out with your 4 link questions. This guy has forgotten more than most on this or any board combined know. Just a warning, it's his way or the highway.
huthuthut 11-24-2007, 11:13 PM Are you looking for like commercial bag shops? Try Art @ GO EZ Customs perhaps. Let me know if you need more shops, I can get them.

I started with the commercial bag shops. They have short links and weak ends. Not really for the street/strip warrior. What i want is a hybrid of sorts. The answer I am looking for is regarding a plate design and relocation of rods for dragging.
Thanks for the response though, I appreciate it. :)

stevemc79 12-22-2007, 07:46 PM This thing is going to be stout. I saw the nearly finished product today. BIG everything. Link bars are 1.75''OD .250 wall Chromoly. 1/2" thick Link brackets. Super heavy duty Heim ends. Looks awesome so far.

We are gonna need it, If the truck is anywhere near 6k lbs, 1500 lbs of torque +/-, we find enough converter...:D
What's gonna break? The drive shaft or one of the links are gonna fold in half.
1lowdiesel 01-15-2008, 01:02 PM i'm gonna say the carrier bearing will be the first to go. :)

I don't have one of those.:)
It's gonna be a process of elimination to make it very fast, streetable and as reliable as tuning/parts will allow. It's my opinion you start with the 60' time, move to the 1/8th and finish the process at the 1/4 mile. I try and not look at the 1/4 as one lump, break it down to parts.
I have to start with a good 60'.
1lowdiesel 01-15-2008, 01:16 PM huh didn't even notice ccsb....so where's the pics?
MAXLLY 01-15-2008, 01:31 PM The truck has the cab off and is rolling. It evolved into a serious effort in mid December.
My avatar has a picture from December (I think) that shows the 4 link pre paint. I don't hang out at DP often, most my friends are on Mcrats site. I started a thread over there a few months ago, "beginning of the end" it's in the Salad Bar area.
Here is a link with some better pictures.

My Brother at MAC Racing and Guy at Socal Diesel have been instrumental to this point. Mike L will and has done the trans/converter work to this point.
Later.

Yep Jack did the link, He's not quite done yet. Need to scale it again loaded, and put the coils on it. He knows alot (understatement).
I should have mentioned him, thanks.
MAXLLY 01-15-2008, 02:43 PM Here's a picture from about a month ago.
It's getting real fun now as we are almost ready to bolt everything back together and slip the motor in. Need one more part and the motor is done, need to paint the hood.
This is where the build usually slows down unfortunatley.
MAXLLY 01-28-2008, 06:19 PM Another picture, it's rolling, the hood is on, beds still off.
Still waiting on ONE part for the motor and i can assemble.
Prolly a month out from powering itself and another month after that (bugs) before it hits the track.
Has 20" rims on it here, good for TNT and then i'll replace them with something cheaper for the street.
Later
Dan@PPE 01-30-2008, 01:07 AM looks like you have plenty of room under the moded hood for some more goodies...
