Did you look at the sticky above titled "Tire Data Base"?

also, I would have waited for the alignment untill after I put new tires on. Old worn tires can make the vehical sit slightly off. it may never matter, but on the cars I work on it makes a differance. Just a thought.

i have a friend with 285/65/16 on his 98 1500 stock z71 looks sweet, the wheel wells are stuffed and no rubbing. i think they're like a 33x11 is what that equals

Cooper ST, I got mine last week and so far I am totally impressed with them. Mine are 265/75/16E on stock rims. Tires handle well on the highway with very little noise and do great in the rain as well. No serious muddin' with them yet, but what they have seen they handled without me using 4WD.

The nominal diameter for those 285/65R-16 tires is 30.58 inches

I can't find any "LT" tires in that size, though. The only tires I can find in that size are "P" rated tires and only with a 2,535 lbs load capacity. (Way too low for a 2500HD truck.)

The stock LT245/75R-16 (E) tires are 30.47 inches in diameter, with 3,042 lbs load capacity.

I put GoodYear Wrangler Silent Armor LT265/75R-16 (E) tires (31.67" dia.) on my truck and I very happy with them.

I know my 265/75/R16's are a little bit to big without any craking or anything. They rub on the inside of the wheel wells when the steering is cranked all the way to one side. They also always want to catch on the screws holding my mudlfaps in because of the rubbing.

i run Goodyear silent armors and love the traction and i dont drive slow either i go on gravel, wet, dirt, and slight mud all the time and they perform in every aspect so far havent got a chance to test them in snow yet. i have about 10,000 on them now. i have tried the bridgestone revos and yokohama geolander a/t-s but i like the good years more so far i have a buddy that has the nittos in 305's and he is happy with them but he stays on the street.

That's quite interesting. Must be the the room inside the fender of a '96 truck is less than for the '06 2500HD.

I have LT265/75R-16(E) Goodyears mounted on production 3500 SRW rims ( Chrome 16'' x 7'' ) and I have NO rubbing at all. I have not touched the t-bars nor have I trimmed anything. BTW, these are the stock size tires and wheels for the 2006 3500 SRW truck.

I bought my Firestones off the web and saved a lot of money. The local Firestone dealer wanted over $1000 and I ended up paying about $350 less - including having them mounted and balanced.

I got them from Roadway tire (they do not carry all brands, but had what I was looking for) and shipping was only $49 for all 4 tires.

I guess that I don't understand why your getting a rubbing condition??
When I ordered My 96 Chev. 1/2 ton 4x4, they came from the factory with those tires as an uplevel production option!!
