I posted before on this, but I had cleared the code so I didnt get any help. It has done it again, this time I got the code read and it is:

P1271

Vehicle is a 2002 Chevy Trailblazer LS 2WD. 41000 miles. VIN is:

1GNDS13SX22398105

Could someone please tell me what this code means and is it something I can fix myself or will I have to take it to the stealership.

Thanks in advance!!!

Looks like it may have something to do with the accelerator peddle sensor. Take it to the Stealer if it is under warranty. Just make sure you take it to a competent one.

Reduced power light on and DTC P1680 P1221 and/or P1271 stored in the PCM

<A href="http://service.gm.com/servlets/BlobShtml?ShtmlFile=1561633&psdid=199&evc=sm#ss2-1561633">Recommendation/Instructions:

Monitor the 5V reference to the Accelerator Pedal Position ( APP ) sensor, circuit 1274, using Peak Min/Max on a Fluke 87. Refer to Si document 1454678 for the 5V reference schematics. Command the fan clutch control "on" with the Tech 2 at 50%. If when commanding the fan clutch on, the 5V reverence spikes to battery voltage, the concern is the 5V reference shorted to battery voltage intermittently inside cooling fan clutch. Replace the fan clutch to repair this concern.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.

<A href="http://service.gm.com/servlets/BlobShtml?ShtmlFile=1556622&psdid=199&evc=sm#ss2-1556622">Recommendation/Instructions:

If the SI diagnostics did not isolate a concern, the following information may be helpful:

<LI type=1>Inspect the main engine wiring harness between the PCM and the generator assembly for a potential short to ground. There is a metal wiring harness retainer in this area that secures the main engine harness. If the harness conduit is mispositioned, some of the wiring may become exposed and chaff on the harness retainer. This may eventually cause the exposed circuit to short to ground.
Inspect the 3 harnesses that connect to the PCM for potential shorts to ground on the metal PCM mounting bracket, just below the PCM. There are plastic harness retainers on the PCM bracket that secure the harnesses to the PCM bracket. If the harness conduit is mispositioned, some of the wiring may become exposed and chaff on the PCM bracket. This may eventually cause the exposed circuit to short to ground.
If a chaffed circuit is found in either of the above locations, repair the circuit using the necessary SI procedures. Once the circuit is repaired, tape the area of the affected area of the harness to prevent the wires from becoming exposed in the future and secure the harness using the original harness retainer.

DTC P1271 1275 Low Power.

GMNA Product Development has discovered a concern internal to the APP sensor. The concern involves a lubricant used in the APP circuit board during the manufacturing process. The concern is more prominent during colder weather but may also happen during moderate temperatures. The result is a DTC P1271 and/or P1275. With these DTCs a reduced power message is indicated on the drivers information center and the PCM will default to Reduced Power Mode.

<A href="http://service.gm.com/servlets/BlobShtml?ShtmlFile=1438760&psdid=199&evc=sm#ss2-1438760">Recommendation/Instructions:

Check the date code on the pedal arm. It is a white sticker. If the date code is before April 1, 2003 replace the APP assembly. The manufacturing concern was corrected after this date. If the date code is after this date run the applicable DTC trouble tree. Below is a sample date code and how to decipher it.

I checked the date code and it is prior April 1, 2003. My problem is my vehicle is out of warranty and the Stealership says, they're gonna charge me $65 just to stick it on the computer. Should I just suck it up and pay to have it fixed or are there other options?

Thanks in advance.

One thing about paying to have it fixed, is that it is on THEM if they diagnose something wrong. I would let them handle it, this isn't gonna be cheap if you start throwing parts at it. If you have done any service work at the dealership (customer pay) you will be more likely to sweet talk them into a goodwill repair. Also helps if you bought it from them.
