Who makes a good manual for the LLY's? I like to do my own maintenance when possible.

The general schedule is covered in your Duramax owner's manual addendum that came with your truck. The Diesel Place website gave me great pointers on a maintenance schedule, how tos (tranny filter replacement, fuel filter replacement, lubrication points, etc.) and general do it yourself maintenance.

Not finding any 05 GMC Manauls on helm .....
Patience my lad, patience. The 04's didn't come out until July? August?, something like that. In the mean time for routine maintenace take a trip over to the DIY section and peruse the list put up by DmaxAlliTech. If there is a specific repair operation you need to do, I'm sure a query in the Ask the Techs section will get the information you need, perhaps even with pretty pictures and all.

The manuals, which include the LLY engine, have been available since last August (I purchased mine in September). On the Helm site click on Aftermarket>>Do-it-yourself, and Independents. On the next page select Chevrolet, then on the next page under Service and Owner information "click here." That will take you to a page where you input 2004, pull-down menu for Silverado, and leave (All Types) under document types selected. Then hit search and on the next page scroll down to 2004 Silverado Sierra and Sierra Denali CK8-Platform Service Manual Set, check your quantity and purchase for $135+shipping (mine was $141.95 delivered). You could select the CD set which costs $300 and covers numerous models years, TSBs, etc. The paper manuals are 5 volumes, 3000 pages, weigh about 25 pounds and take about a foot and a half of shelf space. I figure they will pay for themselves many times over. If all else fails call Helm at 800-782-4356 to place an order.
Good luck-
