Buddy has a 1991 throttle body injected 350, was running rough so we put on new cap and rotor, old ones were really corroded and oxidized. after we put it in the distributor spun forward when we turned over to truck and seems to be no fire at the plugs, started a couple of times but quit. No spark at all now. Any thoughts?

I have seen the connectors on the distributer pickup corroded right off . Have a look there .

would that be the little riveted ring in the distributor underneath the rotor?

after some research the distributor has a corroded and broken little ring under the rotor and I am wondering if that is the reductor or pickup magnet, would this be correct? it has little tabs that stick down alongside the distributor shaft. and wires from the module go into a copper(?) shroud around it all.... is the distributor junk?

its called the pick up coil. you have to take the dist out and take the shaft out of it to change it.
