As I was coming into work this am in stop "N" go traffic my trans down shifted as if it was in towhaul mode. It only did it one time but why?, not towing a load, and with 9400mi on it, replaced the spin-on filter 2 times in the 9400 miles.

Thanks,

Jim

Mike L., If you say it's normal, It must be normal.

No the Eng. light did not come on, I have no way of pulling codes other than taking it to the dealer.

Thanks,

Jim

Mike L, I understand that it's normal for the alli to do it on occassion, but what if it downsifts on it's own like that 50-75% of the time without the T/H engaged? Mine does, it's not exactly like having the T/H mode engaged, but I can feel it and watch my RPM's rise on the tach in the normal mode as I'm coming to a stop. I'm running 305/70R16, new SCIII & SC triple disk installed with approx 6K miles, Hot J/A with tire size dialed in @2618 and -tire size corrected with a hypertech III @32.75. It also seems to delay the (4th 0r 5th shift--not sure?) while I'm accerlerating. Seems to hang from the low 30'smph until about44 mph. Listening to motor it sounds like it should shift about 37mph. When the S/CIII was newly installed it shifted fine, It's been doing this for the last 2K miles or so. I've taken the HJ/A off and reset the factory settings with the Hypertech, but it doesn't seem to make any difference. I haven't had the truck reflashed. Could this be the problem or is there some sort of shift stabilizer or throttle postion sensor problem?

I also want to change the U-joints and carrier bearing just for peace of mind, are there any vendors here on the forum I can order these from?

I would appreciate any advise you can offer.

There is nothing in the Alli that controls shifts; it is all controlled by the TCM ( trans computer). Your hypertech is not capable of doing anything with the TCM so forget that. I would like to see a scan with a Tech 2 for codes, TAPs reset( Target Apply Pressure) TAPs are transmission shift strategys preset ( targeted) for the best functions according to what the idiot engineer(probably drives a Honda stick):h ) decided that we all needed. Run the truck with no program after doing what I suggested and let us know.
