I'm going to order new truck first of December. Wanting to know what short trips does to LMM engine: DPF and anything I should know to prevent problems. I'm buying truck to pull 8,000 # 5th wheel, but also will drive as a personal vehicle. Anything else I should know? :help2:

I have about 2000 miles on mine today. I got it to pull a 5th wheeel this coming spring and to be my daily driver. My daily compute is 9 miles or about 20 minutes one way and so far everything seems to be ok. I do get it out on the freeway though a few times a month.

My problem is, I only live 15 min from work and most of that is in town. It's hard to regen going 22 mph with stop lights.

I have about 2200 miles on my new truck. Has been great so far except for THIS (http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=195611) one issue! Never thought driving short distances would be a problem. In all fairness...the truck runs fine and it seems the only issue was caused by shutting down at a critical time in a regeneration. I have shut down before but not with such dramatic results. This is my transportation as well as my TV for our 5th wheel. Seems odd that my 6 mile daily commute is so taxing on the LMM. I really like the truck so I run it on the interstate after work whenever it starts a regeneration...who da thunk!

Won't happen. These trucks got to regen to stay out of trouble. Short runs, excessive idling=Limp. In stock form!
