I was traveling down a four lane road today driving maybe 35 mph when a car pulled out from the curb and took out the lower half of the passenger side utility service bed. I then tried to pull over and this guy takes off. Well, with my LLY and Hypertech III, I went after him. All I can say is, man, this truck can fly when it has to, even though it weighs in at 8600 lbs. I was able to keep up with him for maybe a 1/2 mile, but he was slowly getting away. He made one fatal mistake going down the wrong alley. A tow truck was blocking the exit and I was able to pin him in. He gets out of the car and I said what the h**l are you running from and he proceeds to tell me he was picking up his mother. I called the police and they show up five minutes later. He had no drivers license, registration or insurance and wouldn't give the police his name. He also forgot how to speak English when the police questioned him, but one of the officers could speak Spanish.):h They ended up arrested him and impounding the car he was driving, ):h (possibly stolen?)Thank god for uninsured motorist insurance. Anyway, I thought I'd share this with you. I’ve never really gotten on this truck before, but it is down right scary how fast these trucks can move when you put your foot into it.

OUCH!!!! I feel for you. I live in Chula Vista which is 7 miles from TJ. I have the uninsured motorist insurance also. I've never had to use it 'knock on wood'. I hope that the damage wasn't too bad. I don't know about you but I'm glad he hit your truck instead of you '62 Impala. That's a sweet car you have. I'm sure your truck is nice too but I have a soft spot for classics.

Good "kill"!
Glad no one was hurt!
I got whacked in a parking lot the other day during a football game but 2 of my buds saw it happen and made the guy leave his # and got his license number.
Turns out it was his mommy's mini van and she had no insurance.
Uninsured took care of me and are going after her.
The police shared her name, address and traffic history with me and it was an education how well the cops can track us down with just a little info.
I ended up with $500 bucks and my rates didn't go up.
Btw how much does a rear bumper cost? :D

Nice!!!

kinda funny how the exact opposite happened to me. I was on the freeway going from Chula Vista (What's up lakingslayer) to L.A. and this looky loo had his window down lookin at a wreck on the other sife of the freeway. Did i mention i can't stand looky loos. So I turned my Attitude up to level 5 and mashed the throttle. His little car filled up with smoke so fast and so bad he immediately threw out the one fingered salute. As I'm pulling away from this Geo Metro I hit about 75 and my truck goes into limp mode. OHHHH Crap, now this little 3 banger is catching up to me. When he passed i felt like the gum on the bottom of somebodys shoe. I think i'm going to look onto the Hypertech III. SOOO embaressing.

I now know first hand what a cop feels like during a pursuit. Your adrenaline is pumping like crazy and your driving this rocket down small city streets. I'm just glad nobody was injured. :) I was able to call the police during the pursuit, thanks to a speed dial and hands free cell phone cradle setup. The cops said if he just gave them some ID or even just a name they would have giving him a mistermeaner hit and run citation and let him walk, but he really pissed them off when he wouldn't give his name. He's either an illegal alien or he's got a record. Either way, it's one less cockroach off the street, ):h ):h and won't be causing any more trouble for a while.

You are lucky you caught him. At least with my insurance, if you don't catch someone who does a hit-and-run on you, your uninsured motorist coverage is not in effect. If you have comprehensive, it will be covered after you pay your deductable, but if you don't, you're out of luck.

The reason they probably took his car is that if you drive without insurance (or registration) they impound your car in CA. The reason he was probably arrested is that he could not show ID for them to cite him with.

I don't like the looky loo's. They could just go tour a junk yard and see a bunch of wrecked vehicles. I mean what is there to see? Good work XR-Freak.

Glad it turned out for the best and the scum is off the street. It's probably also a good thing he didn't have a gun.
What was this guy driving that he managed to pull away from you? Please say it was just that he had better handling

Here's the bad news, they sent him back to Mexico, he shower'd and shaved and he is now back here doing the same thing.
My wife got plowed into, same situtaion the illegal ran and left his shoes behind. Cops said there's in nothing they can do. Then I got slammed into by another fine Mexican citizan with no insurance.
Drive you nuts we pay premiums up the wazoo, tehy drive with no insurance and don't get punished.

Yea, I'm really lucky I caught this cochroach. Towsaboat, he was diving an older Toyota Supra, like a mad man through crowded city streets. I knew if I could'nt get him quick, he'd get away. After I pinned him in behind that tow truck, a feeling of euphoria came over me. Kind of like having sex for the first time. ):h I picked up a pipe I have behind the seat just in case, but as it turned out, cooler minds prevailed. Kendall6, your right, he'll be back on the street in a week. Either back accross the border or through the California court system. Oh, but that sight of the police putting handcuffs on him and his mother carrying on, really made me want to cry.):h ):h ):h ):h ):h ):h

The way it is nowadays, I'm surprised that the cops didn't try to give you a ticket for chasing him. Glad to hear the story.

The car was not impounded for lack of insurance, rather the driver was unlicensed or driving suspended. Since it was hit & run it can also be impounded for that also. It can be confiscated for 30days (14602.6 CVC) that will cost about 750.00 bucks to get the car back.
