hi
has anybody noticed the bolts on the torsion for adjusting are longer than the other by about 5/8. but the truck is level.and if yes is ther a fix to make them equal
the dealer tells me it is normal.the last 4 trucks i haved all been equal

thanks robby

I've noticed on about every torsion bar equipped truck I've lifted the bolts have been off. My truck was off by about 3 turns(1/4"-3/8").I wouldn't worry about it,these trucks are mass produced to within spec, not hand crafted to perfection.:D

same here, i thought it was odd as well but when the truck is perfectly set up the bolts are different, its all good

I was just stating that my personal truck was off. I just did a Tahoe last weekend that was off buy 3/4" and still sat crooked by about 1/2" The owner said he bought it new and the truck was never wrecked and I didn't see any evidence of an accident. The truck lined up and drove fine after the lift and an alignment. I'd say it is normal.

ok i was just checking.you know how the dealer is they say everything is ok.because i am going to lift it and if ther is or was a problem they would say it was the lift or the person that did it as if you lift them you know that is the truth and most of the time is not the lift or the person that put it on

Yeah I know what you mean. I took my truck in after the lift to get the speedometer recalibrated and they told me because of the lift pretty much my whole warranty was void, even the engine.Had a pissen match with three of the dealership employees in the parking lot over it and wasn't even trying to get any warranty work done.

On most trucks I have seen the driver's side adjustment bolt was screwed in further than the passenger. If you look closely at the lower control arm casting you will see quite a bit more slop in the driver's side as opposed to the passenger's side. You can even see day light through the hex on the driver's side!

It takes more of the bolt to provide inital engagement on the driver's side than the passengers side. Also, there is great varience in the bars themselves. The amount of bolt used in adjustment is irrelavent as long as the truck is level side to side.

Where are people checking for level? Are they checking the hood or the bottom of the frame?

I measure from an oval shaped bolt hole in the bottom of the frame rail just before the frame rail turns up toward the motor. IIRC it is real close to the forward most body mount. The tape hooks nicely in to this hole and the tape measure lies flat on the pavement.

use a level on the frame rails on level ground

i was looking at the jack bolts they are about 5/8 different in theards showing. so it looks like one is stonger or weaker than the other
