I'm planning on putting a Suncoast IV kit in my trans this spring as long as I don't have any large unforeseen expenses pop up. I've read just about all of the threads that people have put up about their own builds and am slowly but surely building the confidence o dig in. I grew up working on cars and apprenticed at a shop for a year and a half right out of high school before getting on a fire department so I have all of the basic knowledge except for the fact that I never did any of my own trans work. So before I crack open the case and get myself into a really deep and expensive pile of "fecal matter" I want to read any books on this that I can get my hands on.
I read about the ATSG manual and was going to order it but then I wasn't sure it it was the same for the 5 and 6 speed or if it was different.
Aside from the ATSG what other manuals might I need before tearing into this project.
Thanks!

ATSG will be all you need. Just read through it a few times. Not sure if there's a different one for the 6 speed......I don't think there is because I know the 5-6 upgrade is just a valvebody mod.....therefore the overall tranny assembly/disassembly should be the same.

Thanks for the info, I'd really like to keep my expenses as low as possible by doing it myself. Saving for a house and then wanting to put cash into my truck is really testing my bank account. Not bad for 20 though  I still have a few years left slaving around the house for my parents on my days off from work! But sure as heck beats a 2k /month mortgage while I'm still paying the truck off.
So after I read this ATSG book front to back a few times anybody in CT or the surrounding area that wants to come by for a nice day of allison building this spring please feel free, of course there will be plenty of food and beverage to go around for everybody! You can pm me your applications :p:.
