It seems like when I accelerate lighter (keeping the rpm's below 2000) from a stop when it shifts from 1st to 2cd it is a much harder shift versus when I accelerate with more rpm's. I know others have commented about when the tranny is cold but mine seems to do even after I have been driving for a while and the tranny is warmed up. So has anyone else noticed this? I know the answer is just accelerate with higher rpm's but it is tough with stop and go traffic...

So are others seeing this; lighter acceleration harder shift; heavier acceleration smoother shifting after tranny is warmed up...

You might want to try tow/haul in stop and go driving.

How long have you had it? Allison probably needs time to adjust.

I forgot to mention that and would agree with you McRat that the Tow\Haul does help and that is what I have been doing some of the time.
Thanks for the replies...

I have had it for 3 or 4 weeks but I have been playing between 65 then 40 then 85 and now back to 65 and leaving...

That is probably where your problem is. Leave it alone and it should adjust properly and shift like stock.

i have yet to be able to get that problem dialed in !! i can get it running alright but not exactly what im looking for and the prob youve mentioned doesnt seem to get better for me atleast - ive gone back to it for a solid 7 days at a time and even reset the cells each time and still cant get it dialed in to my liking.

Quit ***** footin' around and GO:D
Mine does the same thing under very light throttle.

the adaptive nature of the tranny is looking for the hit it gets with more aggressive throttle.............and shifts firm for the hit ...its not expecting the lighter throttle.............mine does the same until the juice is up to temp and the extra fuel and timing are added

I’ve had my Predator installed for over a week now and noted the flaring between shifts while the tranny was adapting, however as the tranny has now adapted to the HP level I am running and my shifts are smooth as stock. I was paying specific attention to how my tranny was shifting during my trip home last night in rush hour traffic, light throttle (usually ):h ) and did not notice any harsh shifting. I do have my Predator currently in the 40HP mode could this make a difference? Hope this helps in tracking down whether or not this is an issue.

I have the predator installed for a couple of days and very impressed with it but I have never been in anything to compare it to LOL. I likeit a lot and my gas mileage went form 16-23. I have not compliants yet. I am running in the 60 hp mode and it does what I need it to do.

I likeit a lot and my gas mileage went form 16-23.16 to 23MPG holy crap  !!! is that hand calced or what's on the DIC? I was impressed by just getting an additional 2MPG (hand calced) from the 40HP tune. I've heard that the Predator throws off the DIC it did by 1MPG in my case.

I was going to load the 65 tune just to see if I'd have the same harsh shifting under light acceleration that the origionator of this thread has, but if I'd get an additional 1-2MPG over what I got from the 40HP tune I might just have to stay.

Hey tbone, how do reset the cells? I've driven about sixty miles in light city traffic and the alli is taking it's time. I chomping at the bit to let her rip.
Thanks, Rob

You have to run the truck hard to get it to "learn" IMO.

I've been driving a week now with the Predator, and it seems to have learned everything except how not to leave 2 black stains from every stoplight. ;)

What McRat said...
I couldn't take it any more so I had to see what the 65 setting would do so I made a few wide open runs last night and after doing the WOT the tranny seemed better on lighter acceleration runs...I did notice on the WOT runs that the rpm's would flare when it shifted and if I backed off the throttle a little it wouldn't flare but it was getting better the more times I did the WOT...
I think I am going to stay at 65 for now because when the roads get a little icy she gets to be fun!:D
